It’s becoming incredibly clear who the next face of WWE will be. Since leaving NXT, Austin Theory has been dubbed the new chosen one of Vince McMahon. Week after week, Theory continues to improve – with a reign as United States Champion proving his skills in the ring. He would lose the belt to Bobby Lashley recently, but Lashley has nothing but good to say about the former champion.
Bobby Lashley Praises Theory As A Future World Champion
While speaking with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport – Bobby Lashley would have a chance to praise the rising star of WWE. He’d have the following to say about the man he defeated at Money In The Bank.
“Man, By the time he’s my age, he’s going to be on a stack of money as high as this building. He’s gonna be a super-duper star. 23 years old, that kid has everything in his future. I can see him being a multiple-time world champion. He’s gonna be going after Cena’s record, he’s gonna be after Ric Flair’s record. He’s going to be setting some records that you would never, never imagine. The kid is extremely talented.”
Lashley will face Theory in a rematch at Summerslam. This is one of the few announced matches with Summerslam just a few weeks away, but the card is expected to fill up before the end of July.
His First World Championship Could Come At Summerslam
However, while Theory has a chance to regain the WWE United States Championship at Summerslam, he’s also got a strong chance of leaving with the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Theory was the winner of the mens Money in the Bank ladder match – and has announced his intentions to cash in following the Last Man Standing match between Brock Lesnar & Roman Reigns.
This would make Theory one of the youngest world champions in WWE history, potentially beating out both Brock Lesnar & Randy Orton in this category. Theory calling his shot could be a swerve however, and just a way to make fans sit through yet another Reigns vs. Lesnar main event.
