On Monday, July 11, 2022, Los Angeles area 7-Eleven stores were encouraged to close due to a string of robberies targeting the chain. The drastic measure was encouraged by corporate and sent via local station KTLA.

7-Eleven Corporate Calls for Los Angeles Locations to Close Because of Robbery Spree Targeting Stores

Reports state that six stores have been struck in Southern California. At the location in Brea, a store clerk was shot and killed as well as a customer at a Santa Ana location. There are also three victims who were injured.

Other locations hit involve La Habra, Ontario where someone recently robbed a Little Caesars, Riverside, and Upland. Law enforcement is operating under the assumption that it’s the same guy in the robberies and he remains at large.

The statement from 7-Eleven corporate reads:

“Our hearts are with the victims and their loved ones. We are gathering information on this terrible tragedy and working with local law enforcement. Right now, our focus is on Franchisee, associate and customer safety. With that in mind, we have encouraged stores in the Los Angeles area to close tonight.”

It wasn’t a demand that franchises close up shop, so who knows if many stores actually closed at the moment. Also, something to consider: this might have been a robbery spree just on July 11 which is when 7-Eleven celebrates its anniversary. Perhaps the robber expected to make off with a ton of loot because everyone knows 7-Eleven celebrates on July 11.

However, as Officer Ryan Railsback of the Riverside PD pointed out:

“If you go hit a liquor store or a 7-Eleven or a fast food place, you’re not going to get a lot of cash out of it. It’s kind of odd that they would do this.”

What do you think? Will he strike 7-Eleven again or is he done with the store? Do you believe it’s the same robber in all incidents? Let us know down below.
