Floyd Mayweather Jr. announces his return to the ring as expected, with three agreed fights and potential earnings starting from $200 million.
Floyd Mayweather is inactive in the ring professionally since 2017. His last professional bout was against the famous UFC fighter Conor The Notorious McGregor. With it, he locked his professional record to 50 consecutive wins and no losses.
Since his retirement, Floyd Money Mayweather has taken part in several exhibition fights, and they most certainly attracted great attention. However now, he is looking to do something different. He is looking to extend his professional career and come back from retirement.
We Will See Floyd Mayweather Back In The Ring Later This Year – Is He Coming Out Of Retirement?
Of course, the 45-year-old boxer will not come back into the ring for anything less than $200 million. That is his condition. When speaking with FightHype he revealed these plans.
‘I got three more exhibitions this year, could be one fight and two exhibitions. But guess what, you better know it’s at least and this is the lowest I’m talking about $200million.’
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a sounding name in boxing. He made his reputation only by winning. He has a very powerful technique that seems impenetrable by any of his opponents. During his lengthy career, he won 50 consecutive bouts and has 15 major world titles.
Mayweather locked his gloves in the locker back in 2017 after beating the UFC legend Conor McGregor. He announced that that is all that we will see of him and announced his plans for becoming a trainer. He aspires to become a boxing coach same as his uncle Roger.
In his retirement years, Mayweather has not been just running around and enjoying his time. He never abandoned his routine. He trains on a daily basis and in the period of 5 years of retirement he had taken part in several exhibition fights.
Firstly he came back to defeat the featherweight kickboxing champion Tenshin Nasukawa in the first round with a KO. After that, he faced and won against the YouTube star Logan Paul. And finally, he fought and won against Don Moore after 8 long rounds of jabbing.
Floyd Mayweather has three more exhibition fights already planned. Amongst these fights, a potential rematch against Conor McGregor is being rumored. At the moment it is not known if the rematch would be considered an exhibition fight, or a professional bout. However, the hype surrounding the potential fight is not so high as for the first one.
From the first fight, Mayweather ended up cashing out about $280 million and McGregor about $130 million. These are massive numbers. If the rematch gets even close to this it will be considered a massive success.
What do you think? Would a rematch against Conor McGregor be worthy of arranging? Or should Mayweather continue his path and find some ‘professional’ boxer to resume his career?
