This place has emotional importance for both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Or at least it had. Back in 2014 and got married there. They co-owned the winery and after their divorce, Jolie decided to sell her shares.
Angelina Jolie sold her stake in the winery several months ago, and that ‘hurt’ Brad Pitt’s feelings, as well as his business plans for the place. Due to this, he decided to file a lawsuit against his ex-wife. According to the lawsuit, he claims that Jolie sold her stake in the winery for only one reason – to harm him.
Angelina Jolie Is The Winner Of The Court Battle For The French Winery
Jolie sold her share of the winery to the Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler, which causes a ton of lawsuits in three countries, the US, France, and Luxembourg. Yuri owns the Russian Vodka brand Stolichnaya, also known as Stoli.
This sale starts up numerous lawsuits, including the one in question. Brad Pitt sues Jolie due to not informing him about her plans, and taking these actions with the intention to harm him.
The verdict delivered by the Los Angeles court states that Pitt is to return documents to Angelina Jolie’s team. Seems like there was no background for suing after all. The court knew that and ruled for the documents to be returned to Jolie as soon as possible, since “they cannot wait until the appeal decision is made”.
Critics are not siding with Pitt on this one. They do not see how this harms the ‘Bullet Train’ star, and furthermore state that the implementation of Stoli into the winery may only boost the business.
“Any rational human being would be happy for Stoli to be a partner in their business. They have top-notch marketing and distribution. He just can’t see past his hatred of Jolie.” – Critics state.
While critics argue that Stoli entering the business will boost it, Brad Pitt claims that Jolie sold her shares to Stoli purposely. Knowing that the actor previously had refused to sell the company to him two times. These occasions happened back when he was still in marriage with her. This move by her did nothing more than just ruin Brad Pitt’s plans for the winery.
“Jolie consummated the purported sale without Pitt’s knowledge. Denying Pitt the consent right she owed him and the right of the first refusal her business entity owed his. She sold her interest with the knowledge and intention that Shefler and his affiliates would seek to control the business. The business to which Pitt had devoted himself and to undermine Pitt’s investment in Miraval.” –Brad claims in his lawsuit against Angelina.
