The 2013 movie is based upon the life of a writer, Theodore, played by Phoenix who ends up falling in love with a computer programme by the name of Samantha.
And as Scarlett was cast as playing the voice of the programme, she had the bizarre task of faking an orgasm. And given that the scene did require a lot of work, as they failed to get it done in a single take, that understandably left both of them becoming exasperated.
In her comments, Scarlett said: “You don’t want to hear your voice ever. You definitely don’t want to hear what you sound like having an orgasm.
“You definitely don’t want to hear what you sound like having a fake orgasm — ew. It’s so gross. It was so bizarre.” This is not the only bizarre thing that Scarlett has had to contend with.
She previously had to deny rumours that she had sex in an elevator with none other than actor Benicio del Toro. She came out to deny that anything of the sort had happened following suggestions they were close.
Meanwhile, Benicio’s flippant remarks still left people wondering if anything did go down. In his comments at the time, he remarked: “I kind of like, you know, I, well, I don’t know. Let’s leave that to somebody’s imagination. Let’s not promote it.”
The fans on social media felt the actress had nobody to blame but herself. After all, she decided to take up the role which she could have easily turned down if she wished. One person wrote: “Is she late to the concept of acting?”
This is something that Scarlett will have to live with now that the movie is available for everyone to see. But looking back, who knows if she would have taken the role.
