Lionel Messi said after Argentina’s stunning loss to Saudi Arabia in their opening game that his team felt “dead, but the latter side had a different take on the matter.
Saudi Government Allegedly Gave Players A Rolls Royce Phantom Following Their Victory Over Argentina
The Saudi players actually received the greatest prize of all: Not only did the Saudi government declare the following day a national holiday in order to celebrate the victory, but the authorities have also gone one better.
The Saudi government has allegedly decided to give each of its players a Rolls Royce Phantom in order to celebrate the memorable feat.
And if this is something that you fancy getting your hands on, then it will set you back in the region of $460,000 from the lowest range.
However, any momentum they did have has been stopped. Following the victory over Argentina, they suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Poland.
Goals from Robert Lewandowski and Piotr Zielinski put the Saudis down. However, it could have been all so different as they had the chance to equalise on the cusp of half-time.
However, Polish stopper Wojciech Szczesny was on hand to deny Mohammed Al-Breik as his spot kick was saved. Defeat leaves them third in the table, with a crucial match against Mexico to follow.
The response on social media, though, was mixed. A certain subset of people felt that the players had already had luxury cars prior to the government intervention.
Meanwhile, others marvelled at what the authorities would do next if Saudi Arabia managed to come out with another monumental feat by putting themselves up for the task.
One person wrote: “Someone tell Crown Prince that I’m signing up to play for Saudi Arabia in the next World Cup. I will score a winning goal against any top team in the group.”
While another person stated: “Not true , they already have luxury and super cars before even joining the national team.”
