The 30-year-old actress was nominated for Best Television Actress. While she did not walk away with an award, the fact of the matter is that her appearance raised more talking points.
As Selena was being photographed at the event, there were numerous negative remarks from people on the internet about her looks. When filming an Instagram Live video, Selena discussed the criticism with her younger sister, Gracie Elliott Teefey.
Selena said: “I’m a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays. But we don’t care.” Gomez has already spoken out against those who have made remarks about her physical appearance in the past.
In April of 2022, she took to TikTok to express her frustration with body shamers, explaining that she would not want to miss out on her favorite meals for the sake of being slender because she knows that people will criticize her weight anyway.
Selena has had a difficult time with social media and removed it from her device in 2019. She shared that she removed it completely because the negative critiques on her posts caused her to feel disheartened.
The fans on social media praised Selena for having the courage to speak up and defend herself. This is especially since she has had to contend with numerous struggles including her health issues.
