That makes two guns that were involved in the incident as the MAC-10 that took 11 lives and wounded nine was wrestled away by Brandon Tsay at the family’s ballroom.
Inside his home, investigators found hundreds of rounds of ammo strewn about the house, a .308 caliber rifle, and the materials to make suppressors. He was arrested in 1990 for unlawful firearm possession and he was skilled dancer who would offer lessons at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio. The studio was the the location where the shootings took place and was also where Huu Can Tran met his former wife roughly 20 years ago.
Other regulars who were friends with Tran at some point said that he was serious about dancing and had some hostility towards a few others who frequented the dance studio over the years. Sheriff Robert Luna touched on law enforcement’s search for a motive:
“We do not have a motive yet. We want to know as much as all of you, and we’re working very hard to attain that.”
