In a wild story out of Gainesville, Florida, three people involved in a love triangle were sentenced for the 2021 death of someone not involved in their dispute with a fourth party.
Three Involved in Florida Love Triangle of Death Sentenced for the 2021 Shooting Death of Innocent Bystander While Trying to Kill Another Love Interest
The murder occurred on May 17, 2021 when Doug Heath (38), Martesha Johnson (32), and Jasmine Webb (34)—who were all involved with each other—set out to kill Derrick Williams. Webb and Williams were involved for a short time and that apparently didn’t sit well with Webb’s significant others.
The four lived in the same apartment complex and the sentenced trio was involved in a feud with Williams that took place on social media. Things escalated into a plot to kill Williams. Heath shot at Williams but missed, killing 44-year-old Tyerune Blocker, a bystander who was near Williams and had nothing to do with the drama.
Following the murder, Webb fled Alachua County but was arrested in Lee County. Heath and Johnson were arrested in Alachua. In November 2022, a jury passed down a verdict of guilty for Heath and Johnson’s charge of first-degree murder and attempted murder.
Webb was also on the line for murder but pleaded no contest to manslaughter. In Florida, there is no parole which means the two life sentences given to Doug Heath and Martesha Johnson are life sentences. Jasmine Webb was sentenced to 12 years and credited 599 days served.
