Last night, we saw Jade Cargill issue an open challenge to all female wrestlers in Canada. Anyone could step up and try to beat her for the TBS Championship.
While it was Nicole Matthews who got the match, it was the debut of former WWE NXT Impact Wrestling star Taya Valkyrie that really got everyone talking. She would confront Jade after the match with Matthews concluded – and sent the champion running away. Now, Valkyrie is officially part of the roster of All Elite Wrestling.

As is tradition, AEW CEO Tony Khan would be the one to announce this news – tweeting the following about the latest member of the always growing AEW Women’s division.

Big Female Signings Are Something AEW Needs To Focus On
While the men’s division of AEW has been packed since 2021, big signings for the women’s division are still incredibly warranted. AEW has failed to stand up to WWE’s women’s division, simply lacking the star power that WWE has cultivated over the past decade.
They’ve done a fine job building their division from what has been available – and Taya Valkyrie will fit in alongside signings like Saraya and Toni Storm.
Valkyrie comes into AEW as a proven veteran of the ring, and AEW clearly understands this. She has immediately been put in a title program with Jade Cargill, and Taya is someone who can truly match the power that Cargill brings to the ring.
Their upcoming match could end up being the best of Cargill’s young career. Taya also could well be the second TBS Champion when all is said and done.
