WrestleMania 36 continues here tonight, we’ve got Night 2 to deal with tonight. (You can see the Night 1 results here!) Below you’ll be able to see results from the show as they come plus links to in-depth recaps. Watch this space!
Kickoff Show: Liv Morgan took on Natalya in a match that was presented as Morgan finally getting a chance to really prove herself against a mainstay. It was basically a pure wrestling match with a focus on roll-up exchanges until finally Morgan got a win with one, reversing a Deadlift German Suplex into an O’Connor Roll for the victory.
Segment 1: In the opening bout, Charlotte Flair took on Rhea Ripley. It was a physical match in which Charlotte quickly injured one of Ripley’s legs. Rhea fought her hardest and repeatedly countered the many Figure Four attempts, but eventually Charlotte caught her and after cinching back into the Figure Eight, Ripley had no choice but to submit. Charlotte Flair is now a 2-time NXT Women’s Champion.
Segment 2: In the next match, Aleister Black took on Bobby Lashley. Lashley was in control and about to hit the Dominator but Lana forced him to put Black down and try for the Spear instead. Lashley acquiesced but mid-charge Black caught him with a Black Mass and got the pin.
Segment 3: Then came Otis Dozovic and Dolph Ziggler. Otis had Ziggler set for the Caterpillar when Sonya Deville came onto the apron to distract him. This let Ziggler hit Otis with a low blow. But then out came Mandy Rose who gave a low blow to Ziggler in response! Otis then hit the Caterpillar for the victory, and celebrated with Mandy afterwards, even sharing a kiss!
Segment 4: Edge and Randy Orton faced off in a Last Man Standing match where they fought all throughout the entire Performance Center building. It was physical, brutal, unbelievable and a marathon of a match. It ended on the top of a production truck where Edge hit Orton with a truly destructive Conchairto, finally winning his first singles match in nine years.
Segment 5: In a quick paced bout, the Street Profits retained the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships over Angel Garza and Austin Theory. After the match the heels jumped the champs, including Zelina Vega getting involved, but then out came Bianca Belair to make the surprise save for her husband Montez Ford! The Street Profits and Bianca stood tall.
Segment 6: Bayley defended the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship in a five-way elimination match against Lacey Evans, Tamina, Naomi and Sasha Banks. A turn was teased hard between her and Sasha but in the end Banks came back to attack Lacey and help Bayley score the final pin. Order of elimination: Tamina, Naomi, Sasha Banks & Lacey Evans.
Segment 7: Then came the Firefly Funhouse match and it truly defies description. It was rife with callbacks and basically told the story of the careers of both Bray Wyatt and John Cena. Ultimately the Fiend pinned John Cena as Bray counted the pin.
Segment 8: In the main event, Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar exchanged F-5s and Claymores. Specifically, three F-5s and four Claymores. The fourth netted McIntyre the WWE Championship to close the weekend.
