Segment 1: To open the show we have a contract signing between Sheamus and Jeff Hardy. Sheamus brings down a privacy curtain and a doctor to the ring, saying he won’t sign the contract until Jeff takes a urine test. Jeff goes along with it but when they come back out with an oversized pitcher of urine, Jeff proceeds to toss it into Sheamus’ face, dousing him with it. Also the contracts got signed.
Segment 2: In a non-title match, the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions the New Day took on Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro. After a quick-paced back-and-forth, Shinsuke countered a top rope Crossbody from Kofi with a high knee to the gut and an inside cradle to get the victory.
Segment 3: In the finals of the Intercontinental Championship Tournament, AJ Styles took on Daniel Bryan. It was an evenly matched clinic of technical skill and athleticism as one would expect. It was also shockingly long, nearly 40 minutes of top flight brutal action. The match saw Bryan work over AJ’s arm and Styles target Bryan’s leg, both of which came up several times in key moments. But in the end, AJ countered the Buisaku Knee directly into a Styles Clash and while this somehow was not the conclusion, it set up the Phenomenal Forearm that finally put Bryan away. AJ Styles is the new Intercontinental Champion.
Segment 4: We have the Championship Celebration for Sasha Banks and Bayley who take their time gloating. Bayley says she’s about to recite a poem that expresses how she feels about Sasha when Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross interrupt. The IIconics also deliver a message through the tron promising to get the win at Backlash, and this distracts the champs allowing Bliss-Cross to attack from behind and drive them out of the ring.
Segment 5: Miz and Morrison try to show a new music video ripping on Braun Strowman but his entrance cuts that short. In the main event, Strowman teams with Heavy Machinery against Dolph Ziggler, The Miz and John Morrison. During the match, King Corbin comes up to Mandy Rose backstage and claims she’s been fantasizing about him. This leads Otis to go backstage to attack him but he does make it back to the ring in time to get the hot tag and finish off Ziggler.
