One of the brewing storylines in AEW is that of The Dark Order filling up their ranks. Mr. Brodie Lee failed to gain the AEW Championship, and is now instead building his army. He got Evil Uno & Stu Greyson back, and added Allen Angels to the group as “Five”. However, outside of Uno, Greyson, and himself, Brodie Lee doesn’t have many actually established wrestlers in this ranks. He has mainly gotten rookies and journeymen wrestlers, not people who can reliably win their matches. This might change with their most recent target, that being Colt Cabana.
Colt Cabana Is Starting To Slip
Two weeks in a row now, Colt Cabana had high level singles matches with members of The Inner Circle. First it was Chris Jericho, the former AEW Champion and a living legend. Cabana did well to keep up with him on a technical level and even nearly snatched victory, but some slight mistakes and cockiness lead to his defeat. The same situation happened this past Wednesday when he locked up with Sammy Guevara. He’d wrestle a nearly perfect match, but getting over-eager at the end lead to his defeat.
Cabana Entered The Office Of Mr. Brodie Lee
After losing this second match, Dark Order would come down in full to support the veteran Cabana. They want him in their ranks, his experience would outclass just about everyone there. If they can help him get on his feet again, he’d be dangerous. This is a former two-time NWA Champion we’re talking about here, a legend of the independents. He’d seemingly take them up on their offer and be seen entering the office of Mr. Brodie Lee. However, you need to question if this is a good career move for Cabana.
He Is Better Than A Faceless Grunt
Unless Cabana is to become someone on the same level as Mr. Brodie Lee, Evil Uno & Stu Greyson, this would be a step down in his career. Someone like Preston Vance or Allen Angels donning the Dark Order mask and pledging their allegiances to this faction is a step up, they aren’t established names like Cabana is. Could it help him get back to winning ways? Maybe. But I don’t feel like a few wins are worth entering a hard to escape situation like The Dark Order.
