WWE NXT UK Results: Sam Gradwell vs. Ilja Dragunov [No DQ Match]

Ever since Ilja Dragunov failed to defeat WALTER, he’s been more unhinged and dangerous than ever. He’s taken this aggression out on the likes of Jack Starz and Tyson T-Bone, both of which didn’t deserve the beatings they got. But few will argue in the favor of Sam Gradwell, who brought this on himself.

He got into a singles match with Dragunov through his trash talking, and that was his first loss to Dragunov, yet he kept on going with the trash talk. Now, he’s got a No DQ match with Dragunov, who might shut up Gradwell by just breaking him.

Sam Gradwell Came Ready For A Fight

Gradwell wasted no time getting started, throwing his jacket at Dragunov to blind him before throwing some blows in. He’d nail a big lariat, before stomping Dragunov into the mat. Dragunov fired back with a forearm strike and some throwing suplexes.

Gradwell would be kicked in the face and sent to the outside, where he’d grab a steel chair. Dragunov hit a dropkick to disarm him, and considered using the chair before just kicking Gradwell again. Gradwell grabbed another chair, but was struck down again before he could use it.

Back in the ring, Dragunov hit the Constantine Special, the spinning lariat out of the ropes. Gradwell would flee out of the splash zone as Dragunov went up top, before Dragunov went coast to coast with a dropkick. On the outside, Gradwell grabbed the ring bell and whacked Dragunov with it.

Gradwell then grabbed some cables from under the ring, and whipped the back of Dragunov before putting them in the mouth and dragging him down to the ground. Dragunov went back into the ring, and Gradwell finally grabbed and was able to use a steel chair. He’d whack Dragunov with it twice, before hitting a double underhook suplex onto it.

Gradwell wasted no time setting up his next move, exposing a turnbuckle. Dragunov blocked and rolled Gradwell to the mat, and drive elbow strikes down. He’d apply a guillotine choke, but Gradwell powered out and put him on the top rope for a superplex. Dragunov dumped him off the top rope, but Gradwell threw the turnbuckle pad at him and tripped him up, before shoving him down to the barricade.

Ilja Dragunov Takes Some Serious Abuse

Gradwell followed Dragunov outside for some more clubbing blows, before Dragunov blocked one and hit a knee strike. Dragunov threw Gradwell back first into the barricade, before crushing him with a lariat. The steel steps were grabbed by Dragunov, and Gradwell would talk his way out of being crushed.

Instead, Dragunov hit a set of German Suplexes on the floor, before Gradwell blocked the third. Gradwell took chops to the back and a knee to the face, and Dragunov tried to remain calm. Dragunov would be met by a begging Gradwell, which was a ploy to get a cheap shot on Dragunov.

Gradwell kicked Dragunov in the knee and hit a Death Valley Driver onto the steel steps. Back in the ring, Gradwell only got a two count. Some steel chairs would be piled up by Gradwell as Dragunov howled in pain, but he fought off the shoulders of Gradwell. A knee strike below the jaw was followed by Gradwell being sent head first into the exposed steel.

Gradwell was hit with a backbreaker, and rolled onto the bed of steel. Dragunov dove in with a senton, but Gradwell dodged at the last second. Dragunov was able to kick out at the last second, and crawled up to his feet. Gradwell stopped himself before he chopped Dragunov in the back, not wanting to set him off.

Gradwell Accidentally Sets Dragunov Off

However, as he hit chops to the front of Dragunov, he’d be met by a twist from Dragunov. This led a shot to connect right on the back of Dragunov, and suddenly he was seeing red. Gradwell acted quick with some forearm strikes, before being hit with a spinebuster onto the steel.

Dragunov stopped Gradwell from grabbing a chair, kicked him hard in the side of the head before grabbing the chair for himself. He’d ruin the chair over the back of Gradwell, before slamming him onto the pile once again. Gradwell was defenseless, and Dragunov started throwing elbow strikes.
