A year after the #SpeakingOut movement that swept through the professional wrestling world, another shoe dropped when yesterday, Independent wrestlers Hawlee Cromwell spoke out and retweeted Tweets she made last year and accused Darby Allin as abusing her.
At the time, she shared what happened but didn’t want to name anyone.
It’s a decision that has many wondering she waited to now given Darby’s one of the top guys in AEW, but that doesn’t take away from her accusation as any and all allegations should be investigated.
Speaking out
Last year, Hawlee tweeted:
“It got to the point we’re I was so disassociated and was walking on eggshells all the time that I didn’t say much and if I didn’t reply how he wanted I would get screamed at. He would tell me if I didn’t do things he wanted me to he was going to leave me.
He also would threaten to leave me if I didn’t have sex with him or do sexual things and preform sex acts with him. I took me a long time to realize that threatening someone to have sex with you isn’t consent. It’s rape. I struggle with this to this day and have so many fears around sex and around intimacy”
She retweeted this yesterday with the caption:
“I’m tired I’m so fucking tired and I don’t care anymore. Darby Allin abused me. He abused me and I’m tired of being called a liar by “fans” who have no idea the shitty person he really is. Somehow no one remembers, I’ll never forget how you treated me like shit.”

Hawlee continued on as she shared a message where she was confronted by someone that had been with Darby:
“Also for everyone saying “his ex said he changed” here’s her attacking me saying my rape isn’t valid cause it didn’t happen like hers and completely disregarding the fact that I was under his thumb and stuck with the abuse.”

Nothing is ever simple
This is a difficult situation as there are so many ways to interpret what was said that it muddies the water, so to speak, and it’s up to each of us to make up our minds while supporting an investigation.
And whatever the outcome, we wish Hawlee nothing but the best going forward and hope she finds the closure she deserves.
