With another player that has yet to play this season, Kyrie Irving’s trade talks are heating up, this time there are rumors that he may be getting traded to the Dallas Mavericks.
Kyrie Irving is not angry at his team. There has been no news about him wanting to be traded. He’s not even hurt. For one of the top three players at his position, the talks about his potential trade are something that nobody wants but may need to be done.
Brooklyn Nets’ Kyrie Irving Rumored To Be Traded To the Mavericks Following Covid 19 Controversy
This trade would involve the Mavericks trading two players and possibly future draft picks.
The players would be Kristaps Porzingis who has vastly underperformed in his #2 option role and Jalen Brunson who is a promising young point guard that could help them off the bench.
While Kyrie would probably not be a good fit for the Mavericks, he would definitely be an upgrade over those two combined.
Why Is Kyrie Possibally Getting Traded
The reason why Kyrie has not taken the court this season is that he refuses to get the covid vaccine shot. While he is within his right to decline to get the shot, NBA rules about the vaccine shot say that if he doesn’t get it, he would have to face a different set of rules.
Vaccinated players basically have all the freedom they want while unvaccinated players must get tested daily before they enter training facilities in addition to strict rules about where they can go and when they can and can’t be with the rest of the team.
The overall reason for the potential trade is that all unvaccinated player must also follow local rules for unvaccinated people that varies around the country.
Because of this, Kyrie would only be able to play half of the games for the season and get paid for half of the games.
Brooklyn Nets’ higher-ups stated that they are not going to break their backs to accommodate Kyrie, and either he is going to get vaccinated to play and practice with his team or don’t and sit out all of the games.
The Nets are doing well without him, boasting the best record in the Eastern Conference so far this season.
