Kris Statlander was unable to keep moving forward in the TBS Championship tournament, and now it’s time to get back to winning. She has the talented Lelya Hirsch across the ring, who knows that a win over Statlander would slingshot her up the rankings – perhaps even to a future title shot.
Kris Statlander Outgrapples ‘Legit’ Leyla Hirsch
Statlander would offer a handshake and it was accepted, with no cheap shots thrown. These two have teamed and worked together in the past, and know each other well. Hirsch would take control with a big headlock, holding on through a slam attempt – before Statlander broke free and hit the shoulder tackle.
Statlander got cocky and taunted, only to be rushed down and punished with some big downward punches. She’d weather the storm and come back with a snap powerslam, before a delayed vertical suplex. Hirsch wouldn’t give up and hit a big dropkick before a single leg which rolled into a pinfall, before the cross armbreaker was applied.
Statlander fought free, but Hirsch got the armbar over the ropes before a moonsault out of the corner. Following up with a running knee strike, Statlander barely got the kick out at two and a half. A blue thunder bomb got Statlander a near fall, before a reverse bodyslam and the Spidercrab for the submission win.
Sammy Guevara Is Not Giving Up The TNT Championship Without A Fight
Cody Rhodes is next up to challenge Sammy Guevara for the TNT Championship. Guevara has been a dominant champion, but Rhodes is practically Mr. TNT Championship, being the only two time Champion – and tonight is determined to get #3. This is a rematch of the first match in the history of AEW Dynamite, but Guevara has grown since then – but has he grown enough to defeat Rhodes?
Rhodes would get booed down to the ring, and David Crockett would be on hand to present the belt to whomever wins the match. Guevara rushed Rhodes with a dropkick and tried for the GTH – but Rhodes slipped free. Rhodes would take a lariat which sent him to the outside, and Guevara took some time to taunt.
Back to the ring, Rhodes hit a very aggressive side headlock takeover – with Guevara having some troubles getting free. Once free, he’d catch Rhodes with a hip toss before a snap powerslam. Rhodes bounced off the ropes with a CodyCutter, but Guevara would take advantage with a brawl on the outside.

Guevara would go for the Shooting Star Press off the apron, but missed the mark. Rhodes slammed the arm over the barricade before applying a Short Arm Scissor in the ring. He’d be focused on that arm, stomping and stretching it while Guevara would start to get frustrated – but was able to dodge a moonsault from Rhodes.
Guevara would be able to come back with a double jump cutter, getting a two count. He’d nail Cross Rhodes, but Rhodes rolled out of the ring. Not safe on the outside, Guevara would hit a double jump 450 Splash. Back in the ring, Rhodes nailed Cross Rhodes for a two count.
Guevara would be able to nail the GTH in response, but Rhodes was able to kick out before three. 630 senton was set, but Rhodes was able to block with his knees up. Rhodes would follow this up with three more Cross Rhodes, before spiking Guevara with the Tiger Driver ‘98 for the finish. He lingered on the double underhook, perhaps considering a different move to win this championship – but holding back for tonight.
