Segment 1: To open up the show, Cody gave us a speech on the current situation. Says it’s taught them how small they all are but also how important the service they provide really is. Begs the other members of the Elite to put their differences aside for the sake of taking on the Inner Circle in Blood & Guts. Needs the Elite to be Elite. Kenny Omega and Matt Jackson agree.
Segment 2: In the opening match, the Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix) took on the Best Friends (Trent & Chuck Taylor) in tag team action. Many workers were at ringside basically subbing in for an audience, which seems like a thing they’ll do for the whole show. Behind the refs back, Pentagon got Trent with a low blow to get a dirty victory.
Segment 3: In the next match, with Bea Priestley perhaps unable to appear on AEW anytime soon, we had a fatal four way match to determine the next No. 1 Contender to the AEW Women’s World Championship. Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, Riho & Penelope Ford face off. Shida got the hard-fought victory.
Segment 4: The Jurassic Express, represented by Luchasaurus and Jungleboy, faced off with the Butcher and the Blade who were working at the behest of MJF. Jurassic Express got the victory after MJF tried to demand Full Death.
Segment 5: Out came Evil Uno to continue hyping up the oncoming debut of the Exalted One. Christopher Daniels interrupted him to again claim that there is no such thing as an Exalted One, calling him a lie. But then, a video interrupts him and the Exalted One reveals himself – it’s Brodie Lee! Brodie then appeared in the ring behind Daniels and took him out with a Discus Lariat!
Segment 6: Jake Roberts warns Cody that Lance Archer will be coming after him. We see a vignette of Archer destroying a ton of extras in a backyard wrestling ring. Sammy Guevara sings along to Jericho’s theme in lieu of an audience. The main event saw the Elite, represented by Cody, Matt Jackson and Hangman Page, take on the Inner Circle, repped by Jake Hager and Proud-N-Powerful. The winning faction gets the advantage in Blood and Guts. After some miscommunication from Hangman Page and Matt Jackson, the Inner Circle gets the victory. Jericho gloats about how they have the man advantage including the numbers advantage but a drone – Vanguard 1! – flies into the ring to interrupt him. Replacing the injured Nick Jackson in Blood & Guts will be Matt Hardy!!
