At AEW Revolution, Dustin Rhodes faced off with Jake Hager in the crowd consensus worst match of the night. While he was able to shine in the emotional encounter with his brother Cody in the early days of AEW, it is clear that he is best used as a tag team specialist at this point of his career. Because of this, he has announced that he will be entering the stacked AEW Tag Team division with a partner he has been teaming with lately on AEW Dark.
Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall
With just a single tag team victory over Peter Avalon & Shawn Spears on AEW Dark under their belt, Dustin & QT will become an official AEW tag team, and enter the title hunt. There is a a combined 46 years of experience between them, and both have held tag team gold in the past. Dustin will bring the veteran experience, and with the extra guidence we could see QT finally thrive in AEW. His win alongside Dustin was his first in the company, and that was in their second match as a unit, with the first being a loss to The Butcher And The Blade & MJF where they also teamed with wrestling legend DDP.
Speaking with the media after Revolution, he gave the reasoning on why he is picking QT for his partner. “QT Marshall has been there for the Nightmare Family for quite some time and I want to give him a chance, so you’re gonna be seeing a lot of us together. It’s gonna help my body tremendously, and QT is the right man. He’s tough, he’s been in the business a long time and I think he deserves a shot.”
The Natural Nightmares
Due to their history as part of ‘The Nightmare Family’ backing Cody Rhodes, they will be combining that moniker with Dustin’s old nickname of ‘The Natural’ for their name. We will also see Brandi Rhodes accompany The Natural Nightmares as a manager, which could be their secret weapon to success. With some experience, hunger to succeed and a strong manager at ringside, it should be interesting to see if this team will be able to find the success they are looking for.
Do you think Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall will be able to become proper contenders for the now prestigious AEW Tag Team Championships? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
