Last night on AEW Dynamite, there was a huge number one contenders match between PAC & Orange Cassidy. The winner was set to go on to face Kenny Omega at AEW Double or Nothing for the AEW World Championship, making it a high stakes match for sure. In the end, there was no winner after Orange Cassidy was all but knocked out thanks to PAC, and PAC was laid out by Kenny Omega. This led to a triple threat match, which was always the plan, but AEW had to think on their feet to get there.
A Botched Powerbomb Left Orange Cassidy Rocked
Midway through this match, PAC would hit a sit-out powerbomb on Orange Cassidy for a near fall. On his way down, Cassidy was dropped right on his head, and wasn’t the same for the rest of the match. He tried his best to shake it off, but referee Aubrey Edwards had to call a few quick audibles. PAC spent some time gloating to the fans, while Don Callis & Kenny Omega got in position.
Callis would come out and distract Edwards, while Omega snuck in from behind to drop PAC with a shot from the title belt. This led to a double KO being the finish, but the original plan called for a time limit draw. OC was unable to complete the match however, so instead of taking the option of the Triple Threat away, they simply had PAC get taken out as well.
OC Was Fine Backstage Later In The Show
While he was in rough shape in the ring, once Cassidy got backstage and had some time to recover, he was okay. Fans were concerned, especially after seeing an injury happen during a match on WWE’s Monday Night RAW earlier this week, but reports from PWInsider showed that Cassidy was up and walking around fine.
He should be fine to make the PPV match, but there are a few weeks between now and then, with the potential for AEW to just run PAC vs. Omega at Double or Nothing. Do you expect to see the planned Triple Threat at Double or Nothing? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
