Bryan Danielson & Kenny Omega had one of the greatest matches in professional wrestling history recently on Dynamite- but it was a draw. That proves nothing, but tonight Danielson gets a shot to be on the winning side of an eight man tag team match over Omega – as he teams with Jurassic Express & Christian Cage. This one would be chosen to kick the show off – with no time to waste for this action.
Instant Action To Start Dynamite
Jungle Boy would start off with Nick Jackson, a battle of speed to get things moving. They’d have counters in mind for each other’s offense, but an arm drag and dropkick drops Nick. Adam Cole got a tag and picked up where he left off on Rampage with Jungle Boy. Christian Cage would get a tag and hit some heavy knife edge chops, before right back to Jungle Boy for a diving chop. Quick tags from two tag team specialists saw Christian back in, and slapping the taste out of the mouth of Cole.
Christian would hit 10 downward punches in the middle of the ring, and hit a reverse DDT to dodge a lariat from Matt Jackson. Kenny Omega was in next, before taking a double arm drag. Cole would regain control, and Nick would get back into the mix. Jungle Boy showed his skills with a massive rope walk armdrag. Danielson would tag in and nail some of his deadly strikes on Matt Jackson.
The kicks of Danielson had the crowd on fire, and Omega would flee at a glance from Danielson. Matt was isolated, and Luchasarus would get the tag that the fans were wanting. He’d nail some offense alongside Jungle Boy. The Elite made the save, and Nakazawa and Cutler would attack Christian at ringside before Young Bucks hit the Indytaker on the ramp. Christian might have been hurt, but The Elite would keep going on the opponents.
The Elite Are Unstoppable
Now with a 4 on 3 advantage, The Elite would take the fight to Jungle Boy in the corner. We’d get the Superkliq special as Cole applied the camel clutch and Young Bucks hit the ropes to gain some speed… for a kiss. Jungle Boy would hit the comebacker lariat, but Cutler & Nakazawa took away the tag options. A double DDT on Young Bucks got Danielson into the match. Omega & Danielson would come face to face, and trade blows in the middle of the ring.
Danielson would hit the running forearm strike, before looking for the running dropkick in the corner. The kicks would start to land, and the frankensteiner would take Omega off the top. Diving Headbutt got a two count – only because The Young Bucks. Luchasarus cleaned out the Bucks before taking a knee to the face from Cole. Omega was locked in Cattle Mutilation, and a Swanton Bomb broke this one up.
Luchasarus would strike all opponents into corners, before rushing them down one by one. Cole got chokeslammed into Omega, and Young Bucks kicked out. He’d moonsault to the outside next, setting up a set of dives that ended with Omega hitting the Terminator Dive. Cole wouldn’t dive, but did survive a surprise choke slam. The Elite tried to hit a four way powerbomb but slipped up – only to eliminate Jungle Boy with move after move. Danielson saved the match but was taken out before a 4 Way BTE Trigger by The Elite.
Absolute chaos with a red hot crowd, this was AEW at it’s finest. An excellent way to open a big show, and a perfect match for an anniversary show. Matches like this make wrestling fun. Match Rating: 4.5/5 (**** 1/2)
