The WWE ran off another batch of releases for reported budgetary reasons and one of the nine was Taya Valkyrie’s husband John Morrison.
Valkyrie herself was released a couple of weeks ago from her NXT contract, so she most likely has a 30 day non-compete clause to wait out, but Morrison was on the main roster so he’ll have a 90 day wait.
While the release was shocking, it wasn’t as surprising as some of the others as the WWE struggled to find something for Morrison to do after the Miz went on Dancing with the Stars.
Before that, Morrison was treated more like a jobber than not, but it looked like he was about to get a serious push as he and the Miz were about to feud.
Frustration boils over
Stop supporting a company that has ZERO respect for their talent. You love pro wrestling, spend your money on the hundreds of other alternatives. This is wrong. Ethically, as employers they don’t care about us. Talent or fans.

Following the news of the releases, Valkyrie took to Twitter to share her frustration and called for the cancelation of the WWE with some strongly worded comments.
“Stop supporting a company that has ZERO respect for their talent. You love pro wrestling, spend your money on the hundreds of other alternatives. This is wrong. Ethically, as employers they don’t care about us. Talent or fans.”
Fan response was pretty typical as hardcore WWE fans claimed they refuse to watch anything but the WWE and being released is part of the risk and so on.
Others showed a great deal of support for her, as she latter pointed out she and her husband lost their jobs amidst the holiday seasons.
My husband got fired. This is why I’m saying this. I’m speaking my truth. I’m sick and tired of ppl treating us like shit. In two weeks we lost both our incomes. Before the holidays, I’m allowed to feel how I do. https://t.co/Y4yaq2uMC5

Valkyrie made clear she has a right to feel this way and some fans apologized for their previous comments while others stuck to their guns.
Plenty of options
What undoubtedly added to her frustration is she openly said working with the WWE was her dream and she worked her whole life for the opportunity.
So when she was released it was a blow but there was still hope of possibly going back as well as appreciation for the opportunity. And now that her husband was released she vented.
But there’s another part of this and it’s that they have the chance to move on and be content and happy with the rest of their careers.
One option is they can go back to Impact Wrestling where they previously dominated or AEW if they want to break some new ground.
Both companies have shown they have more respect for their talent than just looking at them as numbers so things could get very interesting in the coming months.
