New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) Noge Dojo Young Lion, Yuya Uemura makes his Best of the Super Juniors debut due to Suzuki-Gun member “Heel Master” Yoshinobu Kanemaru having to vacate his spot in the tournament due to a knee injury.
“I know that my entry is as a result of Kanemaru’s injury, so I can’t say I’m delighted, but when I heard the news, I did get fired up,” Uemura said to the NJPW website regarding the news.
While it is unlikely Uemura will be able a victory during his Best of the Super Juniors 27 (BOSJ 27) campaign, the tournament will provide him a great boost to his development. His entry in the tournament comes at an opportune moment for the Young Lion, who just had several singles matches with NJPW Los Angeles (LA) Dojo Young Lion Gabriel Kidd and fellow NJPW Noge Dojo Young Lion Yota Tsuji during the G1 Climax 30 tour.
Uemura will likely only hope to compete well against BOSJ 27 favorites reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion “Bone Soldier” Taiji Ishimori, three-time former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion “Time Bomb” Hiromu Takahashi, “Sniper of the Skies” Robbie Eagles, and Sho. Putting up solid performances against that group of junior heavyweights will allow him to gauge how much growth he has undergone since NJPW returned from the COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) delay.
BOSJ 27 highlighted matches for Uemura include “Way to the Grand Master” Master Wato (November 15th), Bushi (November 18th), and Douki (December 2nd).
BOSJ 27 could prove to be a pivotal point during the career of Uemura as he could take several steps forward in his progress. Despite being an overwhelming underdog, Uemura will show the determination that has him situated as one of the hottest young prospects in professional wrestling.
