Next week at AEW Beach Bash, Britt Baker has to face Thunder Rosa. This comes after months of tormenting the former NWA Women’s Champion. Baker has a chance to prepare for this match however, as she faces off with Shanna in what promises to be a solid matchup from the AEW Women’s division. Shanna comes into this one on a five match win streak, and looks to keep it rolling at the expense of the good doctor.
Shanna Shows Why She’s A Future Champion
Baker grabbed a wrist lock to start this match, before Shanna turned it around quickly. Shanna lost control but used her agility to take Baker down, but showboated instead of following up. Baker took this opening to get Shanna with a big forearm shot, but was taken down with a series of arm drags soon after.
A huge step up enziguri stunned Baker, but Reba pulled Baker out of the way of the running dropkick. Baker was able to get the cheap shot on the outside, before slamming Shanna into the barricade and nailing the slingblade on the outside before a commercial break came.
Britt Baker Is Ready For Beach Break
Back from the break, Shanna was on the defensive after taking some cravate trapped knee strikes during the break. Baker missed a lariat, and was thrown head first into the mat twice. Shanna got the big running lariat, but Baker kicked out at two. An attempt at the Tiger Driver failed, before Baker applied an excellent crucifix pin for a near fall.
After Shanna kicked out, she’d take a superkick and a hard swinging neck breaker. Reba got the glove for Baker, and she’d look for Lockjaw, but can countered into a pinfall attempt then a leaping stunner. Shanna got the running dropkick, but couldn’t follow up before being taken to the mat and having Lockjaw applied.
This was not a long match, as is the case with most women’s matches in AEW, but they used every second perfectly. Shanna is one of the more solid workers on the roster, while Baker could become AEW Women’s Champion anyday and fans would argue it was too late. Some great and smooth wrestling made this one.
