It’d be hard to name a bigger free agent in professional wrestling right now than Andrade. While he’s set down some roots in AAA, where he will face Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship, he hasn’t signed with any of the major players in America. Ring of Honor, Impact Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling are all wanting him, and while ROH contains some close friends, that might not be where he ends up.
AEW Are In Talks To Sign Andrade?
As per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW has been speaking with Andrade. While this could have been discussing the upcoming match with Omega for AAA, as he is also the AEW World Champion? It’s more likely that AEW is looking to add Andrade to their already stacked roster.
Companies would be fools to not try to get Andrade, as at 31 years old he has a lengthy career ahead of him, and even after a lackluster WWE run, he’s still one of the most in-demand wrestlers around. The only free agents that even come close to matching Andrade in demand is Daniel Bryan, who is likely to re-sign with WWE, or Samoa Joe, who is unavailable until mid-July.
Potentially Setting Up Charlotte Flair In The Future
Aside from all the obvious benefits that Andrade brings to AEW in terms of his in-ring potential, he also comes with a potential extra huge get when the time is right. It’s no secret that Andrade is engaged to Charlotte Flair, as they’re as happy as a couple as you’ll find on social media. While Flair is currently under contract to WWE, there is no guarantee that she would stick around forever.
If Andrade is in AEW, it would likely help to increase the odds of her jumping ship when her current WWE deal comes to a close. It’s not a reason to grab Andrade for your roster in itself, but definitely is something worth keeping in mind when bringing him on.
