The comedian managed to secure a spot just when Katie Thurston was going on a group date. The man that caught Heather’s eye was Mike Planeta. The latter has been making waves simply by virtue of the fact that he admitted he was a virgin. And yet, Mike was not exactly giving a good account of himself.
That is, at least, according to Heather anyway. In an interview with Us Weekly, she revealed how she felt Mike might have walked away from the show. She said: “He’s having a really hard time. He’s, like, crying to a producer. And my fear was that he would just get up and leave. I was like, ‘Is he gonna leave the show? Is this too much?”
But Mike managed to hold himself together. He did something that may have alienated Katie forever. He decided to read out a letter in front of everyone conveying how he was not going to have sex until he was married. Naturally, that could be a deal-breaker for someone, but it seems he pulled it off in the end.
She added: “I didn’t think it was, like, righteous or overly religious. I think she appreciated it. I think I was crying. I remember I had to wipe away a tear.” Once Mike had managed to overcome his nerves, he began to open up. That is understandable, given that Katie also gave him a rose. And now that he has managed to get himself together, Mike has a real chance of walking away with Katie.
She continued: “He’s like, ‘I can’t believe I won this. I’m so happy. Thank you, like, the producers were so nice. I’m so glad I did it, and they encouraged me to be honest.” Time will tell whether Mike survives the test of time. But given that he has managed to get such a major obstacle out of the way, he can focus on trying to win Katie over.
