When VLNCE UNTLD called out the best pure wrestlers from the past, present, and future – they couldn’t have expected the team they got. The past is former ROH Pure Champion John Walters. LSG is the present, seeing as he took Jay Lethal to a time limit draw and showed natural skill. Meanwhile Lee Moriarty is the future, as he makes his ROH debut. Even though he’s signed a deal with AEW, he’s here tonight to teach Chris Dickinson, Homicide & Tony Deppen a lesson in Pure Wrestling.
Lee Moriarty Shows Why AEW Signed Him Up
There was a huge chant for Tony Deppen as this one started, as there is currently a push for ROH to finally sign him. Code of Honor would be accepted, and Walters would start with Homicide. These two are the veterans of the match, and Walters would grab a side headlock to slow Homicide down. Walters was relentless with the headlock, holding on through a backdrop.
Homicide would get into his corner and Dickinson tagged in, finally getting free. Dickinson would be met by LSG, who rolled him up for a one count. LSG went for another roll up but was countered into an ankle lock. He’d counter into one of his own, before Deppen & Moriarty got tags. Moriarty would show why he’s Elite and handily outwrestled Deppen before Chris Dickinson got in.
Homicide would save Dickinson from an abdominal stretch with a back rake, before ending up in the hold himself. Moriarty would be thrown into Walters, who went after Homicide with the sharpshooter. Deppen tried to make the save, but got tied up in the hold himself, with Dickinson finally making the full save.
Chris Dickinson Closes This Out For VLNCE UNLTD
Walters would be taken down by VLNCE UNLTD, and Homicide would slow the pace down. He’d fish hook the mouth of Walters, before they’d trade forearm blows until Walters hit a lungblower. LSG would get the tag alongside Dickinson, and would hit a pump kick and some chops before a snap stunner and a superkick. Mortiarty was in and would work in tandem with LSG, before being taken out by Homicide.
LSG went for the finish, but took a knee below the jaw by Deppen. Moriarty was in to take on Dickinson and hit a beautiful flying lariat, Deppen would come back in with a big strike before Walters was back in. Dickinson would be caught in the Muta Lock attempt, Homicide trying to save before getting hit with a DDT and trapped in the hold himself.
Deppen would break it up with a double stomp, and we were really down to Dickinson & Moriarty briefly. A death valley driver from Dickinson took Moriarty down, putting this one to rest.
A chaotic six man tag team match, and one that really showed how cohesive VLNCE UNTLD is. Match Rating: 2.75/5 (** 3/4)
After the bell, The Foundation would come to the ring. Jay Lethal would say he’s fine being on the sidelines because he gets to watch an incredible show. The Pure division is better than ever, with names like LSG and the legendary John Walters. Lee Moriarty isn’t staying, but Lethal wishes he was. Is pure wrestling going to only get better in 2021?
