Toronto rap supernova Pressa began to really pop in the U.S with the 2021 remix to his 2020 with single “Attachments” which features Coi Leray replacing original collaborator Taliban Glizzy.
At the time, he and Coi Leray were in a relationship and added that extra oomph to the momentum of the song thanks to both being on the bubble in their home countries.
Coi Leray Drops Vague Tweets About Relationship
Early on, it looked as though that relationship was cooked. In late October, Coi Leray dropped two tweets that pointed at possible trouble in her union with the Garner Express artist.
The first simply said “Single” followed by “If your n****a let’s you go to sleep mad every night, you need a n***a.”
As I said, incredibly vague and that could’ve gone either as there being trouble with her and Pressa or just general “advice” that everyone and their mama already knew.
However, it was picked up heavily to where some Leray fans ran with it and some outlets amplified it as trouble in paradise. It got to the point of prodding at Pressa’s burst of popularity in the U.S was being accredited to being tied with Coi Leray.
I Am a Super Legend
While promoting Garner Express (Deluxe) during his The Breakfast Club appearance last week, he made it known that he was already a big f***ing deal before breaking in the American music scene.
The highlight from that discussion about his Leray being a significant part of his American exposure was his response to DJ Envy was “But where I’m from, I am a legend. Like Canada, even Europe, I am a super legend, man.”
Back in 2017, Pressa got the nod from Canadian powerhouses Drake and The Weeknd when he was brought on that year’s Boy Meets World Tour. The tour was in support of his album Views and mixtape More Life.
Pressa would perform on the March 7th and 9th shows in Copenhagen and Berlin. Three days after the Berlin show, he would release his Press Machine mixtape followed by December’s Press a Brick.
His push in 2017 wasn’t all accredited to his musical momentum and pushes by Toronto titans as he was in the news for charges surrounding a shooting and kidnapping incident which was another chapter in the lengthy saga of gang violence in Toronto which involved Pressa and other rising artists from the city.
Tying it back, he toured Europe while facing these charges.
Everything’s Fine for Pressa and Coi Leray
On the Gram, the two have been posting pictures showing that they’re still together. Coi Leray also threw her boyfriend and “Attachments” collaborator a release party for Garner Express (Deluxe) and even got him a cake with the album cover on it.
Pressa’s caption on one post noted “Mtfs dont ever give me much… Soo my baby threw me a Deluxe Party #neighbourhood”.
Currently, the “Attachments” remix with Leray is Pressa’s biggest hit and sits at 6.2 million views on YouTube. The original is at 2.6 million but has more listens on Spotify where it is his top song. Garner Express (Deluxe) is out now on Spotify and Apple Music.
