Ever since HOOK first appeared on AEW TV as part of the feud between Taz & Cody Rhodes, fans have been waiting for his in-ring debut. He’s been running with Team Taz ever since, and occasionally getting physical from ringside. However, on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite – his debut was finally announced. Rampage is taped after AEW Dynamite quite often, and this week is no exception, which gives us some information on the debut of HOOK.
AEW Rampage Spoilers Incoming
Right from the moment he made his entrance, it became clear that HOOK is going to be a big deal for AEW. They licensed “The Chairman’s Intent” by Action Bronson for his theme song. The other wrestlers with licensed theme songs in AEW include Jungle Boy, Ruby Soho, Jon Moxley, and Darby Allin. They don’t give just anyone a licensed theme, but HOOK gets one right out of the gate.
As for his match, everyone already knew the result when it was announced he was facing Fuego Del Sol. Fuego is basically the Brooklyn Brawler of AEW – someone who can give a good match, but will always come out with a loss. HOOK had an impressive debut, and won by choking Fuego out with the Tazzmission.
HOOK Was Always Going To Be A Good Worker
A lot of fans were worried this was going to be another Dominik Mysterio situation. Being the son of a legendary wrestler doesn’t always mean you’re going to be a great wrestler. Thankfully with HOOK, his debut wasn’t rushed – and he learned under QT Marshall & Cody Rhodes at the Nightmare Factory in Georgia.
Their students have been fantastic, and HOOK is no exception. Add in the family legacy of being the son of Taz, one of the most respected grapplers of the 90’s, and you have a star. Fuego is just the first to fall to HOOK, with Dante Martin likely not far behind.
Martin was recently part of Team Taz, but double crossed them on Dynamite during the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale – which led to him getting a match with MJF next week.
