What’s going on with the Britney Spears conservatorship situation? Well as many predicted, Jamie Spears is still trying to access his daughter’s estate. This is after he failed in getting access to the estate plan.
Jamie Spears Still Wants Britney to Cover Legal Team
It’s pretty much a done deal at this point. A judge ended the conservatorship earlier this year and only a few lingering issues remain with the pop star’s finances. As previously reported, those issues will be settled at the start of 2022 when current conservator John Zabel hands over control to Britney Spears.
Jamie Spears Fails to Have Britney Spears Run It Back and Pay His Legal Team
Variety managed to snag court documents that show Jamie Spears petitioning to have the estate pay his lawyers. Specifically, he was looking for “confirmation, authorization, and direction” to get the singer to cover his fees.
As expected, Britney’s lawyer Matthew Rosengart wasn’t having any of it. He stated that the elder Spears made millions off of his client and that his lawyers made “millions more, all from Britney’s work and hard-earned money.” Rosengart would go on to tell Page Six that the petition was both “legally meritless” and just a plain old “abomination”.
Now, after three back-to-back defeats in court, you’d think this is a sound “that’s that” on the Spears vs. Spears legal battle. However, as Jamie’s legal camp has shown, if there’s a way to present this in court and make a grab at the pop star’s estate then they will attempt it.
If anything, this will all be concluded by January in Britney’s favor and that will pretty much end the conservatorship part of their story. It’s definitely possible that there will be legal action once the finances are back in the 40-year-old’s control if all opportunities haven’t been exhausted by Jamie’s camp.
