For the bulk of 2021, NXT UK was the home to the best tag team in all of WWE. Better than Imperium, RK-Bro & The Usos – Pretty Deadly proved to be the best duo in the company. Taking on all comers and beating them down with a near telepathic sense of tag team chemistry, Sam Stoker & Lewis Howley managed 265 days on top. However, when Trent Seven & Tyler Bate got their second chance to become champions – they took it seriously, and finally claimed the NXT UK Tag Team Championships.
Trent Seven Finally Becomes A Champion In NXT UK, Tyler Bate Gets Triple Crown
This is a long time coming. Back when the first champions were crowned, it was Zack Gibson & James Drake playing spoiler and defeating the fan favorite Moustache Mountain. Since then, they would fail to claim them – but Tyler Bate had already won the NXT UK Championship and Heritage Cup. This makes him the first ever Triple Crown Champion in NXT UK history, having won all possible gold.
Trent Seven meanwhile was unable to claim any championships during his run in NXT UK – until now. This win finally gives Trent Seven NXT UK gold. Moustache Mountain previously held the NXT Tag Team Championships – but Seven never won the NXT UK Championship or the Heritage Cup. This win was long overdue for Seven, being the steadiest worker on the roster.
The First Ever NXT & NXT UK Champions
This also completes another bit of NXT history. Moustache Mountain are the first team to win both the NXT & NXT UK Tag Team Championships. Grizzled Young Veterans were the only other team close to this goal, as they continue to pursue the NXT Tag Team Championships. Lately they’ve been more comedic, using street smarts to try and outwit their opponents.
Other eligible teams for this goal include SubCulture, Pretty Deadly & Gallus who need the NXT Tag Team Championship. MSK & Imperium meanwhile would need the NXT UK Tag Team Championships. Other teams have been broken up, or have members released.
