Hilary Duff‘s husband Matthew Koma has spoken out in response to the criticism that they both received after their 3-year-old daughter Banks was pictured sitting in a car without a car seat.

Banks, for her part, is only 3-years-old. With that in mind, there was a lot of worry being exhibited on social media when she was pictured in a video sitting in the backseat without having any seatbelt or car seat fastened.
Although there were no signs that Banks was in any danger, the very fact of the matter is that during the course of driving anything can happen.
Thus, by not making sure that she was securely fashioned in, there was always a risk that Banks could get a serious injury if something untoward happened.
And this all came to a head as large numbers of people came out in droves in order to express mass condemnation at what Hilary and Matthew had been presiding over.
One person wrote: “I love all of you but Banks not in a car seat breaks my CPST heart,” while another stated: “Child endangerment.
“California law requires children in a car seat or a booster depending on age/height and weight.” Naturally, Matthew did not take those comments very well for the following reasons.
First of all, there was an implication that he was endangering his daughter which is the last thing that a parent wants to hear. Secondly, given that parenting is not an exact science, there is bound to be situations where everybody ends up making a mistake.
However, because he is a high-profile star, any mishaps that he ultimately gets involved in are only going to be magnified a whole lot further.
In reply to one of the critics, Matthew stated the following: “You’re [a] 50+ woman calling a 3-year-old a narcissist.” What this story has shown is the dangers of social media.
