Since making his return to the ring, Jon Moxley has been better than ever. He’s in the best shape of his life, and more motivated and clear minded than ever before, and tonight steps into the ring once again. Moxley was originally set to face Brian Kendrick, before Kendrick was removed from the match due to offensive comments made in the past by Kendrick in regards to the holocaust, among other issues that surfaced. Tony Khan quickly took action, stating the following on Twitter.
“We’ve been made aware of the abhorrent & offensive comments made in the past by Brian Kendrick. There is no room in AEW for the views expressed by Brian. We think it’s best for all that Brian be pulled from tonight’s card as we gather more info. We’ll announce a replacement bout ASAP.”
Wheeler Yuta Replaces Brian Kendrick, Jon Moxley
His replacement was quickly named as Wheeler Yuta – who previously was annihilated by Moxley in mere seconds. This is a big chance for Yuta to prove himself, and with Danhausen & Orange Cassidy in his corner – anything can happen here. Yuta has improved since that match, and tonight’s his chance to show that he can hang with Jon Moxley – but things are all the same for Moxley. Just another opponent to beat on his path back to the top of AEW.
Yuta dashed in fast to start this match, missing a dropkick but avoiding the King Kong Lariat. Moxley caught a headlock before Yuta was able to grapple his way free. A dropkick sent Moxley to the floor, where he’d stare down OC before Yuta went for the dive and was caught with a sleeper hold.
Yuta slipped free again, before another dropkick. Back in the ring, a third dropkick would miss before Moxley hit the toss suplex with the greatest of ease. Some heavy chops sent Yuta to the outside, but he came back into the ring and right into a piledriver.
Jon Moxley Remains Undefeated In 2022
Yuta was able to kick out at two, but was quickly locked into the STF. Moxley didn’t get the submission, but placed Yuta up top for a superplex. Yuta fought free and dove over Moxley, and another dropkick worked. Manhattan Drop and Enzuguri set up a lariat in the corner, but Moxley avoided the diving DDT.
Moxley went to the apron, and hit a headlock driver – the OG variant of Dirty Deeds. Danhausen would curse Moxley, and Yuta hit a diving crossbody to the floor. Back in the ring, he’d nail a German Suplex for a two count. Moxley hit a cutter in response, before The Paradigm Shift was blocked.
The lariat was caught, and the modified Angle Slam connected – before a diving splash for a two count. Yuta would get caught into the sleeper hold, before being turned into the lariat. Moxley hammered down with some elbow strikes, and Paradigm Shift closed this one out.
Bryan Danielson Wants To Rule AEW With Moxley
Bryan Danielson was here in the ring waiting for him after the match – and the crowd knew what they wanted. However, Danielson feels they should be fighting not each other – but together. With support, Moxley would still be AEW World Champion. Danielson would run down the champions of AEW, saying no one belongs as champion – but Danielson & Moxley belong.
Together, they could run this company. Someone like Wheeler Yuta under their wings, instead of with jokers in their corner – he’d be a star. Same with Daniel Garcia & Lee Moriarty. These names are the future, and Moxley & Danielson would make sure they were killers.
The offer was left open, with Moxley given the chance to leave a lasting legacy. Will Moxley join Danielson to create the future of AEW? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
