Kyle O’Reilly Hopes To Find Dream Match Against Bryan Danielson In AEW

Things are just getting started in the next stage of the career of Kyle O’Reilly. The Violent Artist joined AEW in late 2021, following his exit from WWE. He proved his skills many times on the NXT roster, becoming one of the top names around the end of the Black & Gold era, and now looks to push even higher in AEW. However – there is one main event match in particular that O’Reilly is really hoping to find.

Kyle O’Reilly Wants To Wrestle Bryan Danielson

This is of course, The America Dragon himself – Bryan Danielson. While speaking to Renee Paquette on The Sessions podcast, he’d describe just how much it would mean to him to get to wrestle one of his idols.

“I broke in in 2005 and at the time, Bryan Danielson was the Ring of Honor champion and was just on this legendary run. He was coming up to DC to work quite a bit. He was still living in Washington at the time. So I got to, you know, chat with him and train with him a little bit here and there, but I never had a chance to wrestle Bryan and he’s a guy that I’ve literally wanted to wrestle at my entire career and we’ve sort of been like ships passing in the night like.

Once I kind of leveled up to go to that next phase of my career, he was moving on to the next phase of his career. Not to say that I left NXT to hopefully wrestle Bryan Danielson but you got to go where the getting’s good and I felt there was — maybe I could work this guy one day.”

The Match That Could Truly Make O’Reilly Into A Star

It would be hard to imagine this match being anything but a spectacle. Everyone knows just how good Bryan Danielson is, with almost all his matches in AEW all being between great and amazing – but the jury is still out a bit on Kyle O’Reilly. He’s had some great matches over his career, but locking up with Danielson would likely produce his greatest match to date.

AEW could even save this match as a ‘passing of the torch’ moment, as Danielson & O’Reilly can fill the same niche on the roster with their highly technical style. Having O’Reilly defeat Danielson in a big time match would launch him to the top of the wrestling world, simply due to how good Danielson is.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
