When Bryan Danielson & Hangman Page locked up at AEW Winter is Coming, few expected them to go to a one hour time limit draw. However, that is how Page had to retain his championship, but it ensured a rematch was coming. Tonight, we get a winner one way or another, as three judges at ringside will determine who did better should we hit sixty minutes again. However, Hangman Page has a better idea – and that is to slay The American Dragon before time runs out, and prove that he is worthy of the championship he carries around his waist, and to render the judges useless.
The Judges Are Here To Ensure We Get A Winner
Kicking off the show once again, these two have one hour to be the masters of their own fate. Mark Henry, Jerry Lynn and Paul Wight are the chosen judges. Danielson is still undefeated in AEW, with a record of 13–0-2, while Page’s 2021 record was 13-1-1. These two are at the top of their game. Page would rush in fast with a big boot, before Danielson fled the ring and did a lap.
Back in the ring, Danielson picked the ankle but Page booted him off before he ended up in a submission again. Again Danielson went out and in, before looking for wrist control with a simple wrist lock. Page was sent off the ropes and Danielson fled to the floor before taking a suicide dive. The moonsault from Page missed, before Danielson ran into a pop up powerbomb right onto the apron.
Back into the ring, Page set up the buckshot lariat, but Danielson fled the ring and blocked the dive by tossing Page into the barricade. Sending Page shoulder first into the ring post came next, with Danielson trying to take away that Buckshot Lariat. In the ring, a shoulder breaker would land, before some European Uppercuts. Page would catch a dashing Danielson into a Fallaway Slam, sending Danielson outside for a vaulting body press.
Hangman Page Gets Busted Open,
Into the ring, Page would hit a flying lariat off the top rope. Again going to the outside, Page kept the pressure on with a belly to belly suplex. Danielson fired back with some punches to the head, busting Page open early in this match. Page spent a bulk of the last match bloody, and this will seem to be same story. Danielson took Page to the judges and ripped at the forehead, showing how hard he’s beating the champion.
Getting whipped arm-first into the steel post again further lessened his ability to hit that Buckshot Lariat. Danielson would nail some headbutts, before a front chancery suplex, setting up some elbow strikes to the head. Cross armbreaker was applied, but Page prevented the full extension.
Page would fire back with a huge Death Valley Driver, before laying in some chops in the corner. Danielson would go back to the headbutt before taking a lariat into the corner. Page landed on his feet out of a German Suplex and got a two count off one of his own. The big boot landed to the face of Danielson before they’d suplex each other over the ropes, land on their feet – and Page was shoved again into the ring post.
Danielson would see to yank the face of Page into the ring post, before instead getting a taste of his own medicine. Page would do some jumping jacks in the ring, showing that despite being a bloody mess he is not out of gas. Danielson refused medical attention and got into the ring, now with a matching crimson mask.
The Judges Weren’t Needed
Page would punch the face of Danielson, and wipe the blood across his chest. A super fallaway slam was set up after some more punches and headbutts to the face. Page rolled right through with Danielson, and was able to get a two count. Danielson would go for a diving knee on the outside only to get caught with Deadeye. Page set up the Buckshot, wild eyed as he stared down The American Dragon.
Danielson would collapse out of the way of the lariat, before snatching an inside cradle for a two count. LaBell Lock applied to Page, but he refused to quit. Page was able to break the hold and catapulted Danielson over the ropes. Big Boot & Moonsault landed, and Danielson was set for the Buckshot, but dodged and nailed the running knee!
Page somehow had enough to kick out at two, before both men just nailed running headbutts. Danielson threw a roundhouse kick and Page dodged right into a Gotch Style Piledriver. Page kicked out, and Danielson set to kicking his head in before setting up the running knee.
A pop up powerbomb met Danielson instead, only for a knee bar to be applied but Page kicked his way free. The backdrop driver folded Danielson up, and Page waited in position to end this one. BUckshot Lariat was fired, landed, and this one was over!
