Many times in the history of AEW, owner Tony Khan has had a major announcement for fans. Tonight however, he intends to show up in person and deliver something truly game changing. Aside from showing up in the Gorilla position when brawls head to the back – Khan doesn’t appear on TV often – which is a sign of just how big it will be. With rumours of a deal with HBO MAX, fans have a good idea of what is coming. To keep the show more about the talent – Khan is kicking off the show to get this out of the way.
Tony Khan Has Purchased Ring of Honor
After hyping the AEW Revolution PPV on Sunday, Khan would drop the big news. When he started AEW three years ago – and 17 years before that Ring of Honour. Earlier today, he signed a contract and has now become the owner of Ring of Honour.
ROH is in the midst of their 20 year anniversary, and their first match ever saw Christopher Daniels defeat Low Ki & Bryan Danielson – and now tonight? Danielson will now wrestle Daniels for the first time in AEW. This purchase of ROH includes the entire video library.
Christopher Daniels Returns To AEW TV For Ceremonial Match – Loses To Bryan Danielson
For the first time in seven months, Danielson hit the ring and would extend a handshake. Code of Honor was adhered to, and they’d kick off this match with some tight grappling. Daniels hit a shoulder tackle and armdrag, showing that he’s not been sitting around for the past seven months.
Danielson would take Daniels down to the mat and stomp the shoulder down to the mat for a two count. Daniels would take this one to the outside, and nailed the Arabian Press to the floor. Back in the ring, Danielson hit a knee strike to the midsection before being dropped down with the Blue Thunder Bomb.
Daniels would signal for Angel’s Wings – only to be driven into the corner and tossed away with a German Suplex. Daniels would find his way to the top rope and got the crossbody, but Danielson would block into a pinfall for two. Strikes would be exchanged in the middle of the ring, before Danielson went up top. Iconoclasm was blocked, as would a top rope hurricarana.
Danielson dove down and was caught into a uranage, before Best Moonsault Ever. Daniels landed into a triangle sleeper – and this one was over as Danielson choked him out. In ROH, matches ended with a handshake, but he’s not in AEW – and here Danielson kicks heads in. Daniels would be stomped out, and this Sunday at Revolution, Danielson meets Moxley in singles action. The head that gets stomped that night will be Moxley’s.
Jon Moxley would hit the ring, and knows Danielson is better and more violent than ever. However, you don’t get more violent than Jon Moxley. Danielson won’t be able to stomp him out of existence, but tonight Moxley wants to get started… and Danielson ran for the hills.
