Dustin Rhodes has once again hit a crossroads in his career. With younger brother Cody Rhodes gone from AEW, having signed a new deal with WWE – Dustin is the last Rhodes standing in AEW. He might not be left standing after tonight’s episode of Rampage however, as he’s set his sights on slaying The Murderhawk Monster – Lance Archer.
A Texas Sized Grudge Match Sees Lance Archer Get Taken Out By Dustin Rhodes
Archer would start this match by attacking one of Dustins students. Dustin would stop this from happening, before shoving Archer into the ring post. Dan Lambert would almost get hit with a piledriver, but Archer was able to make the save. Finally into the ring, Archer would nail some clubbing blows before exposing a corner.
Archer nailed some punches to the side of the head before trying to use that corner – before being hit with a lariat over the top rope. Dustin would look for the cannonball senton, but got nothing but floor. Into the ring again, Archer nailed a body shot – which had Dustin stumbling down.
Dustin was bleeding from his ear, but was able to slip out of the ring to get some breath. Archer was persistent, but Dustin would fire up and hit some uppercuts before being stomped into the mat. Dustin would nail a set of lariats, before the snap powerslam was blocked into a side belly to belly suplex.
Archer would charge into the corner, and Dustin side stepped before some strikes. Some downward elbows to the top of the head did some damage before the Bulldog off the top rope. Cross Rhodes would land, but Archer was able to kick out. Full Nelson Slam would get Archer a one count, before he’d land the chokeslam.
Blackout was set, but Dustin would be able to slip out. Archer would be shoved into the exposed steel before a jackknife cover for the win! After the match, Archer would get even with Dustin, slamming him into the steel steps.
The students of Dustin tried to make the save, but had no luck. A chokeslam through the table would get Archer the last laugh.
Fuego Del Sol Shows A Lot Of Guts – House Of Black Confronted By Dark Order
Fuego Del Sol would take the ring, and he would have a microphone. He knew that when he signed with AEW, everyone knew he wouldn’t have it easy. However last week, he had the fans behind him during the match with House of Black. He would take on three men at once – and Buddy Matthews, Brody King & Malakai Black are dangerous men.
Tonight, he’d call them out – and they’d be happy to hit the ring. A rising knee strike from Black and Gonzo Bomb from King would show why that was a mistake. After this, Dark Order would march to confront potentially their next rivals.
