The debut of Jeff Hardy in AEW was one of the most exciting moments of the year so far. This came following his WWE release in late 2021, where he was booted after an incident at a house show that saw Hardy leave the match. A drug test was done, but WWE still released him before getting the results back.
Jeff Hardy Gave A Hard No To Joining The WWE Hall Of Fame
This led to WWE trying to get Hardy back on the roster before he joined AEW instead. An offer to join the Hall of Fame was in the mix – but Hardy didn’t care much about this.
Jeff made an appearance on Matt’s Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast – he’d say the following on the WWE Hall of Fame.
”You get offered Hall of Fame and it’s like, ‘Oh, of course, I’m a Hall of Famer.’ It’s never really meant that much to me, the Hall of Fame, whatever it is, but it’s just not time for that. That’s why I was like, ‘It’s a hard no.’ ”
Jeff would go on to say that he will not go into the WWE Hall of Fame unless it’s alongside Matt for their tag team career. Both men had great success in WWE even beyond their tag team work, but Jeff Hardy is a former WWE & World Heavyweight Champion.
The Final Full Time Run For This Legendary Tag Team
Right now, both Matt & Jeff Hardy are in AEW – with Matt signing a contract extension – ensuring both contracts now end at the same time. This is the final full time run where fans will get to see The Hardy Brothers . Given the depth of the AEW tag team division, and how solid their match with Private Party was? There is a lot to get excited for.
Their next match will see them team with Sting & Darby Allin, as they face Private Party, Butcher & The Blade in an eight man tornado tag team match on the upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite.
