Actor Ryan Reynolds has called out his parents for allowing him to watch R-rated movies when he was younger.
Ryan Reynolds Calls Out His Parents For Letting Him Watch R-Rated Movies-‘Absolute Failures As Parents’
The actor’s comments come in light of the fact that he does have a diverse range of movies that he has starred in. Not only is he known for being in graphic/action films such as Deadpool, but he has also starred in comedy TV series such as ‘Two Guys and a Girl.’
But it seems that his ‘schooling’ in films was done, as a result of watching movies with his father that he was not necessarily entitled to watch.
In an interview on the Today show, he said: “When I was a kid I used to watch all the movies you weren’t supposed to watch. I keep coming home, I’m like, ‘What— why is this on?!’ “
Ryan is now a parent himself and will have to navigate similar issues. He is currently in a relationship with none other than Blake Lively, and they have three young children together: James, Inez, and Betty.
And given that he is in a whole host of movies, the problem for Ryan is that he will be in a situation where his children may end up coming across his work. Although that can be viewed in a positive way, it can also backfire knowing that not all his movies may go down well.
But when Ryan was asked about why his parents allowed him to watch such movies, this is what he had to say: “They were nightmares. Absolute failures as parents. That’s parenting fail 101.”
The reaction on social media was in agreement with Ryan. A large proportion of fans had gone through similar things during their childhood.
One person wrote: “Same lol. I think prob bc I had an older sister but seriously, my niece is 6.5 and I look at her and think.
“I can’t believe everything I had already seen at her age, including horror”. I just want to shelter her.” Given how successful Ryan turned out to be, his parents will not be regretting things too much.
