Wes Lee was supposed to challenge for the NXT North American Championship recently, but Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams attacked him – smashing his head in a locker. Now, with the belt vacant until Halloween Havoc, Lee was offered a free pass to the coming ladder match, but that is not how he likes to handle business. He will earn his way into this match, by taking on Tony D’Angelo here tonight.

Wes Lee Doesn’t Get The Win He Wants

D’Angelo would overpower Lee as the match began, throwing him aside out of the opening lockup. Lee would be persistent and apply a side headlock, with D’Angelo trying to tilt his way out. Backstage, Hayes & Williams would be watching closely as Lee failed to get a drop toehold takedown, before D’Angelo missed a jumping elbow drop.

D’Angelo would roll to the floor, and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo would try and buy The Don of NXT some time, before being wiped out with a dive. Stacks almost hit the ring to attack Lee, which would have been a DQ. He’d shove Lee, but instead of a DQ – Stacks would simply be sent to the back – which is for the best, Lee doesn’t want to win like that.

D’Angelo would be able to force him into a corner with some heavy strikes, before slamming his head off of the turnbuckles. Lee would stay in the match as he was pinned, able to kick out before three – but being slammed down with a double underhook suplex. D’Angelo kept the strikes coming, before a tilt-a-whirl side slam for a two count.

Rear Naked Choke would be applied, but Lee broke free. Drop toehold into the corner would follow, D’Angelo hitting the turnbuckle hard. The referee would check on D’Angelo, and this one was called as a referee stoppage. There was a knee injury D’Angelo suffered, likely putting him out of action for weeks or months to come.

Sol Ruca Wins In Her NXT Debut

Sol Ruca has been hyped as a potentially big debut over the last week weeks, and tonight she makes her NXT in-ring debut. She will be taking on Amari Miller, another promising name in the NXT Women’s division. Miller could gain some hype by shutting this debut down – but will be wise to not overlook anything about Ruca.

Miller would take control early, applying an arm lock before taking Ruca down to the mat. Ruca would break free and attempt a Sunset Flip for a two count, before Miller would block a kick. Miller would flip Ruca forward, and she was unable to stick the landing. Ruca would manage a flying headscissor, before hitting an X-Factor for the two count.

Miller would hit a knee strike to the midsection, before Ruca would flip out of the corner before a shotgun dropkick for a two count. The surfboard stretch would be applied, but Ruca was able to break free. Some rushing shoulder tackles would be followed by a dropkick, flipping legdrop would follow – and this one was over.

Will Sol Ruca be a champion within the next year of NXT? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
