Joe Rogan sent a jab to Meghan Markle on a recent episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. He said that not all celebrities are like him. Most of them ‘can’t keep up, they bail, you know, like Meghan Markle’.
In the three-hour episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the host and his guest Neal Brennan spoke on numerous different topics. Both comedians and podcasters found much mutual ground for conversation. Along the way, they somehow got to speak about podcasting and how celebrities join their profession not knowing what they are getting into.
Joe Rogan Slams Meghan Markle – Suggests She Might Bail On Spotify
Joe Rogan believes that in order to be successful in the podcasting business, first and foremost you need to be ‘real’. To not be afraid to present your true self to your audience. People widely criticize the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, for being quite the opposite of this. The internet blames her for constantly hiding behind a persona that doesn’t represent her true self.
The podcast that Meghan Markle created, aired in August, despite the deal being signed about a year and a half before this. According to Spotify, the podcast is not doing badly at the moment. It is on the list of the top podcasts for quite a long time. Basically, since it’s airing.
Joe Rogan argued that to reach success listeners must get a sense of what the host is like. Listeners are able to tell this ‘after a while’, and decide whether someone is worth listening to.
“That’s why a lot of these celebrities that start these things they can’t keep up, they bail, you know like the Meghan Markles and the f******—I guess she’s doing it now.” – Joe Rogan told his guest. “But Prince Harry was doing one for a while. But Bruce Springsteen. And Obama was doing one for a while. Terrible.”
Speaking about the ex-President’s podcast, Joe Rogan says that it’s completely fake. “You just can’t keep faking it. It’s too hard.”
Meghan Markle clashed heads with Joe Rogan once before this as well. When the Covid 19 pandemic reached its full potential, the WHO advised people to take the vaccine. During this period, controversial guests joined Joe Rogan on the podcast and spread ‘misinformation’. At the time, both Meghan Markle and Prince Harry raised concern with his platform and released a statement countering him.
“Last April, our co-founders began expressing concerns to our partners at Spotify about the all too real consequences of Covid-19 misinformation on its platform.” – Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s statement reads. “We have continued to express our concerns to Spotify to ensure changes to its platform are made to help address this public health crisis. We look to Spotify to meet this moment and we are committed to continuing our work together as it does.”
However, Joe Rogan stood his ground and defended himself. He even dedicated an Instagram post to the happenings.
“They are accusing the podcast of spreading dangerous misinformation. Specifically about two episodes, a little bit about some other ones, but specifically about two. One with Dr. Peter McCullough and one with Dr. Robert Malone.” – Joe Rogan told his fans in the description of his Instagram post. “Both these people are very highly credentialed, very intelligent, very accomplished people and they have an opinion that is different from the mainstream narrative. I wanted to hear what their opinion is.”
People started coming into Joe Rogan’s defense. There are numerous tweets from this period. Twitter users blamed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for not doing anything to stop the spreading of ‘misinformation’. Instead of just complaining about it, Twitter suggested they air the podcast earlier and battle this by hosting people with countering views. This would be the ‘democratic way of solving the issue at hand’.
When Meghan Markle’s Archetypes podcast eventually aired on Spotify, it topped the lists and skyrocketed to first place on the list. The Duchess hosted the legendary Serena Williams and many people were curious about what does she have to say. However, this didn’t worry Joe Rogan at all. His consistent work and continuous efforts to keep the podcast interesting made him confident in his audience. He knew that once all the drama and fuss about Archetypes is over, he will overtake the lead once more.
Now, a couple of months after it, Joe Rogan still seats in first place on the list. His podcast still breaks records. According to Joe Rogan, the number of subscribers and daily views is going up with each episode he drops.
Meghan Markle also received another recognition, as Spotify nominated the podcast for the People’s Choice Award in the category Pop Podcast of 2022. We will know the winner for this award on December 6th.
It will take a lot of content on the platform for Meghan Markle to reach the popularity that Joe Rogan has. People highly doubt that this is to ever happen because as time passes the audience listening to the Joe Rogan Experience gets bigger and bigger as well.
Furthermore, Joe Rogan has Daniel EK’s support in full. Spotify’s CEO told NBC news that The Joe Rogan Experience is the biggest podcast on the platform. Basically, even though Spotify is very big, they kinda depend on Joe Rogan’s volume of material.
Currently, Archetypes dropped below the 20th place on Spotify’s top podcasts list. According to critics, they believe that it will go even lower with time. The reason behind this is the controversial statements that Meghan Markle makes on the podcast. In addition, her content doesn’t attract as much audience as initially thought.
