Meghan Markle’s found great success in podcasting, but you know what they say – good things happen, but don’t last forever. Now, when the podcast goes through a rough fall in popularity and finds itself in 23rd place, Spotify calls Prince Harry to help.
For months Spotify tried to push the Archetypes podcast and ranked it among the top 5 podcasts on the platform. People were amazed how all of a sudden, a podcast such as Meghan Markle’s managed to overtake the lead before numerous podcasts that built their reputation for years.
Meghan Markle’s Podcast Archetypes Drops On Top Podcasts List – Spotify Wants Prince Harry To Take Over Hosting To Save It
Podcasters are building their audience and developing a ‘genre’ that brings listeners back to their podcasts for years. And now, out of the blue, we have Meghan Markle appearing on Spotify and her podcast tops the ranking lists. It is as strange as it sounds. That’s why rumors about fabricated popularity emerge. It is unbelievable that someone ‘fresh’ could attract so much attention.
Nevertheless, due to her ‘popularity’ on the platform, the Duchess of Sussex even got nominated for the People’s Choice Award for Best Podcast of 2022. She didn’t get the award, but the thought alone that someone that is new to podcasting could win a nomination is something that forces people to believe that the podcast has value to it. However, the current ranking doesn’t suggest this.
Recently, Meghan Markle’s Archetypes podcast found itself ranked below Ben Shapiro’s podcast, and below names like Distractible, Up first, Morbid, and This Past Weekend. Ranked at 23rd place, the drop of almost 20 places suggests something drastically changed. And Spotify will do anything in their power to change this back.
The Archetypes podcast is a product of the $100 million deal with the streaming giant. The couple signed the deal more than 1 year ago, however, their work reached fruition and appeared on the platform several months after signing. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their daughter Lilibet and were busy with many other projects. Seems like they neglected the podcast and left it to reach fruition just a couple of months ago.
The postponement of the airing of the podcast created rumors that their deal with Spotify is at risk. After a period, the podcast aired and all the rumors were denied. However, now, a couple of months after its airing seems like rumors about the uncertain future of the podcast appear again. This time, with a different reason – not reaching the expected goals and dropping in popularity.
Spotify doesn’t want to let go of the podcast. They won’t accept the fact that they paid $100 million for a podcast that doesn’t reach their expectations. That’s why they will do whatever it is necessary to make it work. And they’ve had an idea.
Spotify wants to include Prince Harry on the podcast, not as a guest, but as a co-host. Their intention is to broaden the volume of information that will be shared on the podcast. Their intention is for Prince Harry to share personal details from his life. All this with the intention to attract as much audience as possible.
A royal expert, Neil Sean thinks that Meghan Markle’s podcast may become history if the Duchess doesn’t include Prince Harry.
“We told you while she was back over here in the United Kingdom, tentatively, Meghan put out feelers regarding Catherine, The Princess of Wales, as if she would ever really want to do such a podcast. And then, of course, we have Prince Harry popping in spontaneously during another podcast.” – the royal experts said in a recent Youtube live show. “Guess what? Spotify wants him in the podcast. The bottom line is they don’t care how he comes in. Whether he’s sitting to the side as a co-host or indeed she interviews him or he interviews her. They feel they’ve paid for this royals stardust that’s really evaporated very quickly, so the only way they feel they could get this back on track is if Meghan drops some kind of bombshell with a big interview. And guess what? It’s the right time, isn’t it.”
This could be the only thing that could save Meghan Markle’s podcast from certain doom. According to analysts, the timing to include Prince Harry might be perfect now. At the beginning of the month, he announced the publication date for his ‘tell all’ memoir. So, his implementation in the podcast could boost the popularity of the podcast, as well as the popularity of his book.
Royal experts and royal fans keep on slamming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for complaining and portraying themselves as victims. They complain, when in fact Prince Harry is literally born with a silver spoon, and Meghan Markle is lucky enough to be in a marriage to a Prince. I mean, what a gold-digger could ask for more than this? However, they do not see this as an advantage. They started building businesses revolving around their ‘curse’ to be part of a royal family.
The press also didn’t go easy on them ever since they started making these public complaints about their life. Especially Meghan Markle, the press did not go easy on her at all. The media started blasting her for everything. Her biracial heritage, her age (being older than Prince Harry), and being divorced are just the beginning of it. Being an actress, speaking badly for all members of the Royal family publicly, and attacking them on her podcast is something about which she receives a massive backlash.
The California couple has a lot to work to do to earn the $100 million that they signed for. It is likely that now when there is no other solution, Prince Harry might jump in Meghan Markle’s help. Will it help save the podcast? Nobody can tell. We will let time tell.
