Earlier tonight, we’d check in on the WWE Hall Of Fame panel of Shawn Michaels, X-Pac, Road Dogg, Molly Holly, and Alundra Blayze – as they would evaluate the NXT roster ahead of NXT Deadline for the Iron Survivor Challenge. They discussed the men of the roster, but now they shift their focus to the stacked women’s division.
Evaluating The NXT Women’s Division Ahead Of The Iron Survivor Challenge
Blayze would be pulling for her favourite, Roxanne Perez. They had a moment at Great American Bash, and she’s been improving at a rapid pace. Her feud ending victory over Cora Jade all but ensured she’d make her way into the field.
Zoey Stark meanwhile was made for the Iron Survivor Challenge, with everyone shocked she hasn’t been called up yet. She’s easily one of the top names on the roster, and a match like this could be her statement victory. Meanwhile, Indi Hartwell might just lack the confidence to win a match like this – fans have it for her, but she’s missing that.
Cora Jade meanwhile is on-par with Perez, but add in a killer instinct, and a full knowledge of who she is. Another woman who knows who she is, is Fallon Henley – who just got the big victory over Kiana James, who is also being considered. Alba Fyre would be champion if not for Isla Dawn, but that might be her focus at Deadline. Finally, they’d jot down their five names – and later in the show, but matches will become clear.
Zoey Stark Cuts Nikkita Lyons Down, Irish Born Lyra Valkyria Is Coming
Last week on NXT, we would see NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Katana Chance & Kayden Carter be taken down by Toxic Attraction – unable to beat three people at once. Later in the show, they’d speak with recent challenger Nikkita Lyons – and she would agree to help them tonight. They will face NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose, and two time NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne in a massive trios match… which might not be happening.
Lyons would be cut down by former partner Zoey Stark on her way to the ring, putting her status in question before this belt. Stark went after the previously injured right knee, and had to be helped to the back. Toxic Attraction would catch on while laughing – with this match shelved for now.
We’d instead cut to a vignette for Lyra Valkyria instead. Formerly known as Aoife Valkyrie in NXT UK, she was one of the rising stars of the brand – with many feeling she would be the one to end the NXT UK Women’s Championship reign of Meiko Satomura, but was never able to find the title shot. She’s promising to bring a new level of fury to the roster, and is arriving at a great time in the division.
Javier Bernal Gets His Wish
The past few weeks, Javier Bernal has called out Axiom – knowing he was not cleared to wrestle – by saying he could wipe the floor with him. Axiom was watching from home, and tonight – after being cleared by the trainers in the WWE Performance Center? He’d make his way to Bernal, who gets what he wants as he will go one on one with Axiom here tonight.
Bernal would get a kick to the face as the match began, taking a moment to recover on the floor. Back into the ring, Axiom would take Bernal down to the mat and would begin to stretch him, only for Bernal to get some control with a wrist lock. Bernal wouldn’t control the hold for long, and would flee the ring when thrown to the ropes – taking a suicide dive as Axiom refused another time out.
Axiom would be able to block a springboard, cutting him down to the mat and focusing on the knee. A foot DDT would land, before Bernal picked him up and down to the mat. Axiom would get a Sunset Flip for a two count, before applying the Triangle Choke with Bernal breaking free using a powerbomb.
Bernal was dropped with a flying bulldog, but avoided the Golden Ratio superkick and responding with a DDT. Axiom would catch Bernal on the top rope, driving him down with a suplex before Golden Ratio for the finish.
JD McDonagh & Julius Creed Go Deep
Earlier tonight, JD McDonagh was an unwelcome guest in the Diamond Dojo – warning Julius Creed & Brutus Creed about targeting Sanga & Veer. Julius would claim he doesn’t need some creepy geek to explain how to beat someone, and tonight will go one on one with McDonagh in a singles match.
Creed would go right for a double leg on McDonagh, before McDonagh showed he’s no slouch on the mat. McDonagh would apply a tight headlock, with Creed able to hit a backdrop but unable to break the grip. Creed would break free and throw McDonagh around the ring with suplexes, before driving him to the floor with a lariat.
McDonagh would be followed out by Creed, and was able to get the high ground before hitting a dropkick to send Creed from the apron into the announce table. Creed would be bent around the ring post, with McDonagh torturing the former tag champion. McDonagh would hit some stiff chops into the corner, before a snap suplex in the middle of the ring.
Sanga & Veer would hit the ringside area to get a closer look at this match – and Creed would be fired up at the sight of them. A powerslam would follow, before a delayed suplex. Spinebuster would set up the sliding lariat, but McDonagh slipped from the ring. Back in, two big Belly to Belly Suplex would follow – before Creed was dumped out to the floor and nailed with a PK.
Creed popped back up and looked for a German Suplex, only to take a headbutt and Asai Moonsault. Back in the ring, McDonagh hit a chop block and would bend the knee of Julius – but kicked McDonagh out to the floor. A steel chair would be introduced – but Sanga saved Creed – before this ended in a DQ.
