An issue that AEW has had for a long time has been the number of titles that they have on the show. This not only a problem for the titles that the company has but also for the titles that are owned by other companies. I think that it is time for AEW to stop being so nice all the time and focus their product.
Ban Any Title That is Not an AEW Title From the Show
This may seem mean to some fans but grow up and get over it. This is an AEW product. In the same breath that you can say that they can allow those titles onto their program if they want to, you can say that they don’t have to if they don’t want to.
You know what is crazy about that latter part? No one can do anything about it. AEW is the number two wrestling company in the world but they act like they are five or six.
People tune in to AEW every week to see AEW not New Japan, Impact, or any indie promotion that may be working with them.
AEW has national television and sponsors, not them. This is not to shade any other promotion at all. I wouldn’t mind the announcers mentioning that the wrestler also hold this other title in another promotion, just keep the actual title off of television so that you keep the focus on your titles.
This includes the Ring of Honor titles also. I know that the company is owned by the same person, but the product that we want to watch and care about is AEW.
For the sake of growth in the company on a mainstream level, you need to make it simpler for a random person that may potentially become a fan to get invested in your product and to do that, you need to showcase your product in the main spotlight.
Combine Titles, Do Away with Others
The titles that need to be combined in AEW is the AEW Women’s Championship and the TBS Championship.
Even though as fans, we can tell the difference between the level of importance of the two titles, AEW treats and talks about them like they are the same.
Even though AEW has the depth in their women’s division to have two titles, I don’t think that they have the star power at the top to sustain having a midcard women’s title.
On top of that, I think that the TBS champion is the woman with the greatest star potential in the company. There is no reason why Jade Cargill should not be in the AEW Women’s Championship picture.
I know that she is going to get there eventually, but I think that it should happen sooner rather than later.
Also, the FTW title should not be recognized as anything real. I know that it technically isn’t but when you have storylines of people wanting to take the title from whoever has it, it becomes too much of a focal point of the moment.
Instead, Hook and the other wrestlers who recognizes it should be working toward getting their hands on the All-Atlantic title. I see a lot of potential from that title and what the hungry young wrestlers at the bottom could do with it.
Make a Choice: Tag Team or Trios
This one might be a little controversial. I know that there are people out there that wants everything to be equal and included into every other thing but I just don’t see the need for both of them.
Most of the trios are tag teams with another person added and most of the tag teams just so happen to have a singles wrestler somewhere around them not doing anything.
My suggestion in this situation would be to go with only the trios titles. Your company, as it is currently set up, is full of groups and trios. There are very few tag team or singles wrestlers in the company that don’t have someone to back them up.
For those that don’t, they are the ones that get beat up by the ones that do in backstage angles and after matches.
I also think that if they can do just the trios division without the tag team division right, it would be another thing that they can use to set themselves apart from WWE.
Lastly, they can use it as a way to get three people over at once, which for a company with a roster of its size, would be good. There are a lot of talent on AEW Dark and Dark Elevation would probably be happy to be in a trio.
