Right now, one of the biggest free agents in professional wrestling is Nick Aldis. The two time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion would cut ties with the National Wrestling Alliance at the start of 2023, and is waiting for this next spot in the industry. This might well finally see him join the roster of WWE – with there finally being some interest in signing him.
WWE Is Interested In Nick Aldis
A report from Fightful would indicate that WWE is interested in bringing Nick Aldis in as part of their roster. Previously, there was simply no interest in bringing him in – with Aldis trying to get into WWE following his run in Impact Wrestling as Magnus. His run in the NWA has really helped to boost his stock, with him filling the role of travelling champion well.
When it comes to Aldis – you’re getting one of the most consistent in-ring workers around today. He is a bit dry in terms of personality, but isn’t lacking in charisma. Aldis knows how to present himself like a star, something that his wife Mickie James helped him with over the past few years.
He would fit in perfect on the roster of Monday Night RAW or Smackdown Live, with all the skill and experience to skip NXT. It wouldn’t be hard to see him challenging GUNTHER for the WWE Intercontinental Championship on Smackdown Live, and is more than TV ready. Aldis has history with the likes of Cody Rhodes & AJ Styles on the WWE roster – giving some easy feuds.
Other Top NWA Stars Jumping Ship To WWE
Another NWA star who has joined the WWE roster is the son of Steve Cornino, Colby Corino – who has all but been confirmed to have signed with WWE. Corino is expected to show up in NXT soon, while Aldis would likely be given the choice to bypass the developmental brand.
We have also seen current NWA Women’s World Champion Kamille state that she hopes to get to WWE soon, wanting to prove herself on the biggest possible stage. NWA is really losing many of it’s key players, and will need to start locking down their talent – and bringing in more top prospects from the indies.
