Chris Jericho has once again proved he’s the master of reinvention in professional wrestling, and has built another dominant faction with the Jericho Appreciation Society. Their first victims have been Eddie Kingston & Santana, who they’ve all but taken out of action in recent weeks of AEW action. Add in a restraining order set in place against Eddie Kingston, and they have reason to celebrate. Tonight, they take that chance – and fans get to see a Jericho Appreciation Society victory speech!
The Jericho Appreciation Society Gets Run Out Of The Arena By Blackpool Combat Club, Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz
‘Daddy Magic’ Matt Menard would start by letting everyone know what turns him on – and that’s getting to be part of the greatest faction in the world today. Chris Jericho let everyone know that he was born just down the road from the arena – but he was smart and got the hell out of this town as fast as he could. If anyone has an issue with that, he will throw a fireball at them – because he’s The Wizard.
Eddie Kingston in particular better stay away, because Jericho will just take him down again. Daniel Garcia would say that any time a professional wrestler steps in the ring with a sports entertainer – the wrestler loses. Jon Moxley’s music would hit, and suddenly the Jericho Appreciation Society might have a Blackpool Combat Club issue. Moxley & Kingston are thick as thieves, and Jericho knows how dangerous Moxley is.
The music of Bryan Danielson would follow, and suddenly, Danielson, Wheeler Yuta & William Regal came. It was five on four still however, until Kingston, Santana & Ortiz came from behind. JAS were surrounded, and they might have underestimated the friendships that Kingston built. It was a massive brawl, and Regal would get the last laugh – with a hefty punch in the face to Jericho.
The Owen Hart Memorial Cup Women’s Bracket Begins With Toni Storm & Jamie Hayter
From the moment Toni Storm walked into AEW, there was a single match that everyone wanted. Toni Storm vs. Jamie Hayter. When they both qualified for the Owen Hart Memorial Cup, everyone expected this match to come as the finals of the entire tournament. However, Tony Khan would make the choice that this would be an opening round match – and better yet, it will kick off the tournament tonight.
These two would lock up to start, with Storm getting a headlock. Hayter was able to get control, but a sprawl on the mat would see Storm regain control and get a one count. A test of strength would favour Hayter, and Storm tried to get fancy – but took a chop to the stomach. Storm shot back with a dropkick, before Hayter would boot her to the floor.
Hayter would follow up with a snap suplex on the floor, and was right there as Storm got back into the ring. She’d keep the pressure on with a rear chinlock, but Storm was able to fire off some elbow strikes. Hayter would be nailed with a hip attack and tornado DDT – and rolled to the floor, only to take a second DDT onto the floor.
A german suplex in the ring would land, and Hayter was rocked. She’d flee to the apron – where she was able to regain control. A superplex saw Hayter hang on, but the second suplex was blocked into an inside cradle. Storm Zero Piledriver would follow – and Hayter was down for the three count.
