While there have been some great tag team matches in 2022 from all companies, it’s hard to top FTR vs. The Briscoes from Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor PPV. A dream match for many fans, and one that over delivered. On that night, FTR claimed the ROH World Tag Team Championships – and fans have been waiting for these teams to run it back. The rematch comes during Death Before Dishonor later this month, and the stakes were just raised earlier today.
FTR vs. The Briscoes To Be Best Two Out Of Three Falls
During an online exclusive, FTR & The Briscoes would come face to face – and the stipulation for their upcoming match would be revealed. It’s a match type that both teams are familiar with, as they will now meet in a Best Two Out Of Three Falls match.
FTR have not wrestled one of these matches since their time in WWE, where they wrestled nine of these matches. Two were televised in NXT against American Alpha & #DIY – with the other two televised ones coming from the strange era where WWE booked far too many matches of them on Monday Night RAW. The rest came at live events, where fans always said that match stole the show. Overall, they won five of these matches, and lost four.
Meanwhile, The Briscoes wrestled many matches of his style. Eight of them came in Ring of Honor, including a run in 2007 where they won a stretch in a row without dropping a fall. They even wrestled two in CMLL. In the end, They’ve won six- and lost five. A perfectly even record.
Death Before Dishonor Starts To Take Shape
This match type is a good step to topping the previous five star classic, as it will allow both teams even more room to tell a story. It’s likely to steal the show, which is currently set to also include matches like Mercedes Martinez vs. Serena Deeb, Wheeler Yuta vs. Daniel Garcia, and Samoa Joe vs. Jay Lethal.
There’s also rumors of Claudio Castangoli taking on Jonathan Greshm for the ROH World Championship. Death Before Dishonor is set for July 23rd, and can be watched on FiteTV or Bleacher Report. Will you be watching the upcoming ROH PPV? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
