Ricky Martin’s 21-year-old-nephew is now backpedaling on his disturbing claims that he was once embroiled in an incestual sexual relationship with his famous uncle. Dennis Yadiel Sanchez made headlines last week when he claimed to have been romantically involved with Martin during a seven month period. He also accused Martin of harassing him once their alleged illegal affair came to an end. Dennis Yadiel Sanchez’s initial report claimed that he ‘fears for his safety’.
If Martin were found guilty he would have faced up to 50 years of prison time under Puerto Rican law. But now Sanchez has changed his tune and has asked the courts to dismiss his claims entirely.
Ricky Martin’s Nephew WITHDRAWS Incest And Harassment Claims, Protection Order Dropped
“The accuser confirmed to the court that his decision to dismiss the matter was his alone, without any outside influence or pressure, and the accuser confirmed he was satisfied with his legal representation in the matter,” said Martin’s lawyers, Joaquín Monserrate Matienzo, Carmelo Dávila and Harry Massanet Pastrana in a joint statement. “The request came from the accuser asking to dismiss the case.
This was never anything more than a troubled individual making false allegations with absolutely nothing to substantiate them. We are glad that our client saw justice done and can now move forward with his life and his career.” The temporary protection order that Sanchez was granted against Martin was also absolved after a brief meeting with Judge Riza Cajigas Campbell in Puerto Rico. “Just as we had anticipated, the temporary protection order was not extended by the Court,” explained Martin’s legal team.
This is a huge win for Ricky Martin, whose career and reputation was sullied by slanderous claims of incest and abuse. Earlier this month, the singer was slapped with a domestic violence restraining order, though the accuser was unknown at the time. Martin has flatly denied all of the concerning allegations from the onset, and other members of his family stood in his corner in support of his innocence.
Famed attorney Marty Singer released a statement that claimed Martin’s nephew suffers from mental health issues, saying, “Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been–and would never be–involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew. The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting. We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”
Martin’s brother, Eric, also came to his defense during a Facebook Live where he revealed that their nephew’s mental health struggles are ‘severe’ and that he has a history of targeting other family members. Eric noted that the troubles with Sanchez have been happening for a long time and he was ‘tired of being quiet’ about it. He also said that a female co-worker was granted a restraining order against Sanchez after he ‘threatened to kill her’.
