Jay Lethal was unable to win the ROH World Television Championship from Samoa Joe, but remains a high ranked name in AEW. He’s set his eyes on the TNT Championship, and has even attracted the interest of Wardlow. However tonight, he takes on the ever illusive Orange Cassidy – who handed Lethal a trios loss this past Friday on AEW Rampage. Lethal would get the last laugh with a post match Lethal Injection – but won’t hit it so easily tonight.
Jay Lethal Breaks Down Orange Cassidy
Jay Lethal would rush into a roll up from Orange Cassidy to kick things off, before the shoulder block would send OC down – and an exchange of arm drags before Lethal got faked out. OC put his hands in pockets, before Lethal would just look for Lethal Injection and took the shotgun dropkick before a no hands kip up, before a dive to the floor.
Lethal took the mocking kicks up the ramp, with Satnam Singh earning his keep for the night as he intimidated OC away. Chuck & Trent would come out stacked on top of each other, just getting back from the stock market where they did a business. Singh didn’t know what to make of this, and left.
Back at ringside, Lethal would hit the Dragon Screw, before trapping OC”s ankle in the steps for a dropkick – softening him up for the Figure Four Leg Lock. In the ring, Lethal kept the pressure on with a series of knee breakers, and that is how you need to treat OC – you can’t take him lightly, and his speed is one of his biggest weapons.
Wardlow vs. Lethal Set For Battle Of The Belts III
OC would fight back in the corner and got to the top rope, only to be taken down with the Dragon Screw. Figure Four would be applied, and OC would roll right to the bottom rope. OC would be brought back in the hard way with a suplex, before the Lethal Combination and the diving elbow drop would have followed – but OC rolled away.
Lethal would take the back elbow, before OC slowly went to the middle rope for the diving DDT before the Satellite DDT for a near fall. OC couldn’t set up the Orange Punch with the hurt leg, but would block the figure four attempt with a roll up. A kick to the knee and Lethal Injection would follow, getting Lethal a big win.
After the match, he threatened to break the leg of OC if Wardlow didn’t come out – and Wardlow would march to the ring and send Lethal running. It’s clear they will clash soon, and it will come at Battle Of The Belts III this weekend!
Hangman Page Is Back With The Elite?!
It’s been a while since Adam Cole, Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly would be on the scene in AEW – with all three taken off TV due to some injuries. However, with the announcement of the AEW World Trios Championships – they’re back this week alongside The Young Bucks. Cole is someone who always has something to say, and might claim that his claim to those new belts is Undisputed.
Cole was happy to be back in an AEW ring with his friends. He’s not medically cleared yet, but is working on it. However, he’s been thinking about what is best for Undisputed Elite next – and what they can work on. Nobody is perfect in that ring, not even them. Cole would preach about loyalty, having come to AEW to be with the Young Bucks, and travelled the world with Fish & O’Reilly.
This brings him to the trios tournament. He would love to team with both the Young Bucks & reDRagon – but isn’t cleared. Neither is O’Reilly, and the Young Bucks seemingly aren’t keen on teaming with Fish – so they won’t be in the tournament. Fish, O’Reilly & Cole would turn on the Young Bucks – beating them down.
Kids were crying in the crowd, as they’d look to Pillmanize the Young Bucks. The music of Hangman Page would hit – and he’d run off The Undisputed Elite. The fences have been mended between The Young Bucks & Page, and we could be looking at the first ever trios champions.
