Moments After The Beginning Of The November 23, 2020 Best Of The Super Juniors 27 Match Between Taiji Ishimori And Yuya Uemura via New Japan Pro Wrestling
New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) continued the Best of the Super Juniors series (BOSJ 27) on November 23, 2020, at the G Messe Gunma in Gunma, Japan. The COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) reduced crowd of 820 showed up to see a night of Junior Heavyweight action.
The opening series match of the event saw reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and Bullet Club member “Bone Soldier” Taiji Ishimori battle NJPW Noge Dojo Young Lion Yuya Uemura.
Ishimori came into the match after defeating Suzuki-Gun member Douki on November 20th. Uemura dropped the fall to Suzuki-Gun member El Desperado on the same night. Despite being outmatched, Uemura came into the match with fire, wanting to prove he has taken leaps forward during his time in the NJPW Dojo System.
Uemura was even able to hang with Ishimori momentarily when the match took to the ground, showing the Freestyle Wrestling training receiving in the NJPW Noge Dojo has served him well. However, Ishimori was able to rely on his experience and technique to continuously gain the advantage over his young opponent.
Ishimori would gain the submission fall with his Bone Lock technique at the 10 minutes and 36 seconds mark after a stiff challenge from the Young Lion. The victory moved the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion’s BOSJ 27 record to (3-1) [6 points, while Uemura’s record fell to (0-4) [0 points], effectively eliminating him from BOSJ 27 Finals contention.
Ishimori would go on to face CHAOS member “Sniper of the Skies” Robbie Eagles on November 25th, while Uemura would former three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, BOSJ 25 winner, and Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member “Time Bomb” Hiromu Takahashi on the same night.
The victory for Ishimori keeps him at pace with the top of the BOSJ 27 table, however, his opening night loss to Hiromu could end up keeping him from making the finals if he manages to drop another match.
